Swiss International Airlines - Choice of lounge in JFK
I'm booked on a JFK-GVA flight in early June (*G and booked in business), and I'll be arriving that day at JFK for my connection 7 hours before departure. Obvious questions: Does LX have a lounge of it own, and what time does it open? Also, is there an alternative in terms of *A lounge in the same terminal?

yes, LX has it's own lounge in JFK. I guess it opens around 3/3.5 hours before the 1st LX departure. However this lounge it is before security control so you might be lucky and it is opened before.
Sorry I cannot help re other *A lounges in the same terminal. Check which other airlines use it and you will probably have the answer.
LX departs from terminal 4 at JFK, UA from terminal 7 and LH from terminal 1. Unless you arrive on UA, manage to stay airside and visit the United Club I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the LX lounge to open. The first LX flight departs around 6PM, so they might open as early as 2.30PM.

The LX lounge is the only Star Alliance lounge in Terminal 4, and as it is used by other airlines as well, it is open pretty much all day. However, how early they will let you in with an LX departure ticket I can't say.
when its open for tam tap or whatever it is they wont let you in as a star gold or as a lufthansa senator when flying ua or lh out of jfk - have to wait till its offficially open - apparently early mornings it sonly open for tap passengers
;-((( :td:
quite a good lounge overall and its the only *A lounge in T4

TAP does not fly to JFK. I assume you are talking about TAM?
Must be TAM then - Didnt take much notice -the 4 times in March 2012 and 6 times in Nov 2011 when I was killing time on back to back PS mileage runs to lax/sfo I went to T4 and every single time refused entry as a LH senator becasue i wasnt flying TAM - later in daywhen lounge officially open and killing time before LH and UA flights no problems

What are the hours for the Swiss Lounge at JFK? I presume that it is not open all day, since the first Swiss flight is not until 6pm.
I'm flying on a United p.s. flight out of JFK in the late morning and was wondering whether it would be open. Yes, it's quite a ways from T7, but I've heard it's much better than the United Club.

Not the First Class lounge. I'm a frequent UA Int'l FC lounge user at JFK and am writing right now from the FC Swiss Lounge--my first visit. All I can say is that it's probably nice when it opens and if you're on their first flight out. It's 7:20pm and I'm on the last flight out. There's a couple pieces of cheese, two empty platter where food probably once was, and a few clean glasses at the bar. The guy across from me is drinking champagne from a highball glass. There are dirty dishes everywhere. One employee just passed through the lounge (which, by the way, is a fraction the size of UA) texting on her phone and not even paying attention to the lounge or the guests. There is no proper place to do work. Everyone is balancing laptops and fighting for the few outlets when one opens. Sad to say but I'm missing the UA lounge and I'm hopeful the in-flight FC experience is a great improvement.

Are SN using the LX lounge as well? As I will be arriving straight from the New York Marathon finishing line I'll be desperate for a shower - any luck? (I'm SEN and will be in Economy.) Thanks, ps
