Spain/Portugal/Gibraltar - Spain: Madrid Barajas / MAD airport interterminal transfers
It's a question not exactly IB-related, but I guess this forum knows more about Madrid airport than most.
A simple matter of transferring from T1 (TAP from LIS arriving 11:35) to T2 (TG to BKK 13:00). Baggage will be checked through, so we are talking airside transfers and not a great deal of time.
How easy is this for an older, slower passenger who I know () will refuse assistance.

From personal experience when a IB flight from LHR to MAD T4 arrives at T4 there is a PA asking PAX for T4S to stay seated. These PAX are then asked to leave via the rear door and are then driven across to T4S airside.
The MCT for T4 > T4S is 1h 30min. It sounds very tight and possibly illegal but hey this is Spain!

Yes... Except that as IB uses T4, if you travel in IB+OW you don't use T1 or T2... :)
transferring from T1 (TAP from LIS arriving 11:35) to T2 (TG to BKK 13:00).
I was getting confused because I couldn't remember where passport control is for T2, but then I realized that it's the other way around (TAP is T2 and TG is T1, so you'll be going T2>T1).
As T1 and T2 are joined together (the imaginary "dividing line" is inside one of the buildings), it's probably just a matter of how far apart the gates will be (could be pretty far apart), as all departure gates are on the same floor. You'll arrive on one of the Schengen gates, go through passport control (never seen much of a line here) and then just go to your gate.
(Hopefully someone will confirm this. I live here so I haven't done this myself).
T4 > T4S
This is somewhat different, as T4 and T4S are two separate buildings (usually one will use the underground train to travel between them). T1-T2-T3 is one big complex.

Got it! So Terminals 1-3 are the "original" segmented terminal, and the division between T1 and T2 must be the one I used to pass through to get from the Schengen part to the gates for BA flights (in times long gone).
Big relief, I thought Iwas sending him on a nightmare journey of trains, buses and escalators: but it'll just be a steady kilometre or so plod ......
Thanks for putting me right ^

Thanks - seems the two parts of T4 are separated, while T2 and T1 are essentially two parts of the same building.
T2->T1 is 60 minutes MCT, so he'll have legailty on his side!

Yes you are right. I was assuming that your PAX was inside T4 complex. Must read threads properly! :o

Interterminal busses are every five minutes during the day.
This is not about Iberia, so will relocate to the proper forum. /JDiver, Senior Moderator

Are you sure your LIS flight is arriving to T1 and not T2? Schengen *A flights normally use T2 and T1 is reserved for non-Schengen flights or lowcost airlines.
Anyhow, you will not need to take a train/bus or whatever to transfer from one terminal to the other. T1/T2/T3 are all connected in one single building so you will only need to take a nice walk through the fabulous old facilities of MAD.
Your TP flight will arrive in T2. If your bags are checked all the way through and you have your BPs, you will not have to leave security, but simply turn left after leaving the gate and keep walking until yo uget to T1. Otherwise, it's out the bag claim, up one level and about a 10-min walk at a comfortable pace to T1.
