For the Harry Potter fans out there... :)

Harry Potter studio tour opens near London (http://www.stltoday.com/travel/harry-potter-studio-tour-opens-near-london/article_5447e2e0-6e91-5076-abcb-2ee3abc49bac.html)

Warner Bros. hopes the general public will be equally enthusiastic. The studio expects 5,000 people a day to visit the attraction, which is selling itself on its authenticity — it features real sets, models, props and costumes from the films, on the original studio site.

My wife already booked us tickets for our trip early this summer. Because living near Universal Studios and regularly visiting the Harry Potter area there apparently wasn't enough for her. :)

Has anyone actually been to this yet? Two of my colleagues are booked on the tour later this year and would be interested to know.

On a side note, I saw a Channel 4 show the other day called four rooms where dealers bid for all sorts of items the public choose to sell. A man came on with a wooden chair that JK rowling wrote her first two books on. He turned down offers exceeding £50,000. Crazy.

Pretty pricey, especially when you consider the merchandise you're likely to be flogged!

Whilst they are promoting this as a 'London' attraction its' not particularly close, being on the outskirts of Watford.

By road you need to come off the M1 at Jct 5 or Jct 19/20 of the M25 and join the A41. From there the attraction is signposted.

By rail you should head for Watford Junction which is 20 mins from London Euston (London Midland trains). There is a shuttle bus service running from Watford Junction which leaves at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour. Price is £2 return.

If arriving direct from Heathrow you can catch the 724 Greenline coach direct to Watford Junction. For Luton Airport the 321 bus gets you to Watford.

If you want to stay in Watford there is a Holiday Inn and a Park Inn very close to Watford Junction train station. A Best Western and a Jury's Inn are not far away in the Town Centre. The Hilton is further out and you'd probably need a car.

I can't tell you what the tour is like as I haven't been but I hope this info might help any prospective visitors.
