Thailand - Loy Krathong 2012: Nov. 28

I was doing some advanced planning for visitors and travel to the North of Thailand for Loy Krathong later this year.

Loy Krathong is November 28, 2012 this year, so a bit later in the month than usual, as it is tied to the Thai Lunar Calendar: full moon in the 12th lunar month.

If you can make it up to Sukhothai for LK it is definitely worth it. Cool little parade. Fireworks. "Light and Sound " show. Krathong contests. I had a great time.

I noticed the scheduling about a year ago when we were planning our wedding. As 2012 LK is around turkey day time it would have been great for friends and family to experience it.

As it turned out waiting another year to get married would have upset the powers that be.

I've done it in Bangkok, but what is Loy Krathong like on Koh Samui?

I will probably miss it this year as I usually try and be back on the USA fir Thanksgiving ,

its a neat time , 1n 2010 I went over to Emporium and watched at the small lake next door , Amazing amount of people but all in good fun :)

the few nights before it rained , but I left BKK Wednesday afternoon :(
