I was looking around online to book 2 nights in NYC - I usually stay at the Wingate 35th St (Luv that place).
I decided to view the "Night" Hotel. When you click on the hotel name, then click "Redeem Points", it shows a list of available room types, but no amounts of points required are listed. I clicked "Reserve" anyway, just to see what would happen, and I got an error message that said that I didn't have enough points for this reservation.
Ok, so I figured, no big deal, and I just forgot about it. The next day, I happened to check my account balance, and it was way lower than it should have been! After checking further, it seems that my reservation DID go thru, and 90,000 points were deducted from my account!!! It says it was a Tier 7 redemption - 2 nights @ 45,000 per night! Yeeoooow!!! Absolutely NO eMail from them - NADA!!
I immediately called and canceled the reservation. The phone agent kept asking me for the confirmation number - - I tried VERY hard to explain that I didn't have a confirmation number, because I never received an eMail, and it appeared online that the reservation wasn't finalized, showing that I didn't have enough points in my account!
BE CAREFUL booking free hotel nights that don't show points amounts!!!
Has anyone else seen this?
