Our plan is to drive from Venice to Siena for 3 days and then on to Sorrento. Stay in Sorrento for 3 nights and then drive to Rome where we would turn in the car. The mapping program tells me it is about a 5 hour drive from Siena to Sorrento, but the car from Siena to Florence, Train to Naples, commuter train to Sorrento and the some type of transportation to the Hilton Sorrento doesn’t sound much easier. Thoughts?

Take the drive along the A1 down to Sorrento. I would think you'll be leaving the car at the Hilton for those three days. Driving along the Amalfi Coast is a test of wits in itself. But the drive down is straightforward until you hit the Naples area, and has some great scenes. Your navigation probably doesn't take into account that on the autostrada, your speed normally ranges between 80-95. Be sure to stay out of the left lane if you don't break a 100 ;). Safe travels!
