But I'm pretty sure you'll need to over night it in either SJU or MIA, so that adds some $.
Also, if you have a discount code you can reduce the fare further.

$334 for AA, DL, US

I booked mine for September:
LAX-DTW-ATL-SJU outbound
SJU-ATL-CVG-LAX return
8,100+ EQMs
Using bump vouchers so makes it even sweeter. Not quite a MR as I'm staying a couple of nights but was able to get the Doubletree San Juan for $111/night.
The first class fares for LAX-SJU are running about $1,185 RT AI, including routing with the LAX-JFK transcon...not too shabby!

Is the DEQM AA only? Or is it also for UA?
The double EQM on LAX-ORD round trips started out on both, but even the original version was ended by UA on 1/31, while was to end on AA on 3/31. But AA has since extended it (DEQ11) to 6/30.
I don't keep up with everything UA (with the current merger mess, the UA forum seems overloaded!), so I cannot absolutely rule out that UA just added some new double EQM promo, but I sure haven't heard of one.
Btw, AA's DEQ11 promo is only valid for people whose addresses on file are in CA/IL/TX (and was/is in reaction to VX starting or expanding routes).

US has this flight at a good price with some good seats still for October. My question to you guys, is it worth taking with only about just under an hour from arrival into SJU to your departure back home to SFO. Case in point, most, if not all of the US flights arrive at roughly 1255pm and depart back to SFO at 240pm. Is that cutting it too close?

As long as you are a US Citizen, all you need to go to SJU is just a driver's license. There is no immigrations, visa, etc. as long as you are a US Citizen.

I travel there monthly, so I know. 54 minutes should be enough time, for a turn around, odds are is the same plane back, though I'm not sure on that.
You can buy stuff at the duty free, that is about the most you can do, and there is no need to go out of the secure area of the terminal. For duty free purchase, all you need is your return BP. Prices are very reasonable for booze, cigarettes, perfume, cosmetics. I have mixed feelings on jewelry.
Enjoy.

I've done quick turns in SJU and not had a problem. It is essentially a domestic airport, and not as international as some expect. As long as you don't plan on leaving the terminal (and don't check bags) you should be fine with 1 hr plus between flights.

Yeah, I'm taking this flight on a US Air (operated by UA on 09/07-09/08) and on 10/01-10/03 (operated by US Air). Next year, I'm going to be doing the same day turn around flights and using them as a staple of my 2013 Gold qualification.

I would think it'd be SWU upgradeable. Its all 'domestic' flights with sticker upgrade options. This is on AA, right?
Do you have AAdmirals Club membership or Amex Plat? Would be nice to have on that routing.

well, I would agree with you for all the flights except for SFO-JFK on AA24 (763) which is usually heavy loaded with passengers going to Europe (who potentially go there with SWU's), as well for MIA-LAX because it's going to LAX.
In fact, there were even 3 SWU upgradable seats for the trip, but I did not want to burn 2 SWU's for myself.
No, I'm neither AC member, nor I have Amex.

I noticed that the Delta fares included a free stopover. Though the SLC-SJU-SLC fares were around $430rt, I had some orphaned legs on other trips that I needed to fill in anyway, so I got the following for $365rt ai for 8,002 miles. It only comes in at about 4.6 cpm, but I needed those outer segments anyway and they would have cost $259 on Southwest, bringing me down to an effective $106rt for the SJU portion and 1.3 cpm! Not to mention the slight possibility of an upgrade, guaranteed economy comfort, and secured gold status for next year! Thanks OP!

Will 40 min connection work coming in from PR? Are there customs involved at IAH?
I don't like to do anything in 40 minutes at IAH but there is no customs since Puerto Rico is part of the United States, even though it has chosen not to become a state. Before you leave San Juan, there is something similar to what they do in Hawaii, some sort of agricultural check, but this does not impact your connection in Houston. Enjoy your trip.
September is Atlantic hurricane season in a big, big way so I am too traumatized to book this deal for myself but supposedly we are going to have a quiet year, so good luck and enjoy.

Even if you are not a US citizen, traveling US to SJU is like traveling from LAX to LAS. No customs, just an ID check at security. You arent leaving the country.
