National - One-way rental issue YUL-IAD

Hi all, hoping some of the National experts can help. I am looking to rent a one-way from Montreal YUL to Washington IAD. If I wish to make a revenue booking it comes with unlimited mileage, but when I apply my free rental days it goes to 0 free kms with $.25 per km. I'd really like to use my free day (as this would be a $300 one-day rental otherwise), but to have 0 free kms is ridiculous. Any chance this is just a technical issue?

What code are you using, try some codes (ones that you are eligible to use) - some may give you free mileage.

I think I may have been unclear in my post (or I don't understand what you are saying). If I wish to make a revenue booking I get unlimited free mileage with my corporate code. When I try to apply a free rental award (all else being the same) that allowable mileage goes to 0.

There are actually 2 issues here:
1) This is a known glitch in National's system. One-way rentals picked up in Canada with the Emerald Club ID always have a lower daily rate with a km charge. That's almost completely pointless to use free days then, since you'll stay have to pay a lot.
However, you don't have to use the Emerald Club ID when you book a reward reservation. You can use the same ID you use for paid bookings, and receive the same benefits. (Ex, unlimited miles, free CDW, no underage fee, free additional drivers, etc.) If you can get a free 6 month trial membership with BJ's, you can insert the BJ's ID, pull up the higher unlimited km rate, and apply the banked free days.
Alternatively, you can apply the award days with no contract ID. This is another glitch, because the system will not allow you to proceed to the next screen with no ID listed. Instead, the generic Emerald Club ID will be the default, with the issues described above. To get around this, you can call National, tell them to remove the ID code, and have them make the booking for you with the free days from your account.
2) One-ways from Canada to US border cities allow car choice as usual. However, for one-ways deep inside the US, the exit booth or greeter will require you to choose a US-plated car of at least the reserved size, even if your confirmation says "Emerald/Executive Aisle" or "Emerald Reserve."

I had a similar issue two days ago.
Try blanking your contract id and use rate code DR01 along with the coupon. I was able to make a dummy booking YUL IAD for a one day rental with the coupon.
If that doesn't work, you will have to book over the phone.

Thanks! This was driving me crazy as I've been wanted to do a one-way YTO-Downtown Montreal and I couldn't figure out how to avoid the km charge. I put in my AMEX PLT contract id and got a flat $130/day rate for a Fullsize SUV that the free days wiped out, and got down to C$2.69 for 3 days.
There have been times that I've been able to save money by renting in Montreal (or Vancouver), dropping in Burlington (or Seattle), picking up another car at the same time and then taking that farther afield. Depending on your schedule, that might be one way to work this out.
