Does Yemen perhaps not like satellite communications that might be in the hands of rebels?

There are a few stories online about people having their phones and/or cameras taken when they go to Yemen. They for whatever reason believe you are supporting the opposition, or a journalist, neither of which they appear to be thrilled to let in with their stuff.

Cuba
Iraq
Korea

There are probably others, but I've heard of issues in those.

Yes I think they don't want the equipment going to AQ and other terrorist groups. Anyone heard of any other countrys this can happen in? I know Egyipt doesn't like satphones either.

"Al-Qaeda" and other terrorist groups in Yemen have no big problem getting things in or into Yemen as smuggling and unfettered border crossing is a long-enduring tradition there.

India doesn't always like sat phones either.... terrorism the concern there. Same type of government foolishness.
