Does anyone know if you can still use the frequent flyer code for continental on Air India flights?

Yes, Flying Returns is outsourced.

I usually get replies to my emails to AI directly as well within a week...

AI miles are worthless on partners. However, redemptions on AI are reasonably priced and availability is good.

If and when they join Star Alliance, that will change.

it was kingfisher but that ended a long time ago....i think in 2009....

You won't earn elite-status qualifying miles if you credit to any of these programs though.

No, I wouldn't call IT dangerous. I haven't heard anything about them skimping on required maintenance or anything, and their pilots are just as well trained as any other airlines'

Their unreliability is about randomly cancelling flights, leaving you stranded at the airport at the mercy of walk-up fares.

you will get no miles for this....ua is not a partner....you can always use your ai number later....in theory you can call & give them the pnr for the flight & they will credit it....but, being ai, they will make it as difficult as possible for you....

Well, that should be the first flag. AI boarding passes print out the IATA code. So it should have been "FF UA FN"

they put it in by mistake last time....there is no way you should get any miles for that....

Before time tells it, pretty much everyone who knows about AI partnerships will tell you that you won't get UA miles for your flight. AFAIK, the only partners you can earn miles for AI flights are LH and SQ. You are most likely mistaken about your earlier earning. You are certainly mistaken about earning UA miles for IT flights back in 2010 as you probably would have earned CO OnePass miles and not UA MP miles.

If you do not want to lose the miles for the AI flight you took, it would be best to submit a mileage credit request into your FR account now rather than waiting for the credit to happen in your UA account.
