End of the month, 3 night stay at the IC. Any suggestions for good ( great ) local food around this location. Walking distance only. Is it safe to walk around there? How about CC acceptance? You notice this is my first trip to Eastern Europe. Don't flame me. Appreciate your help.

You can start by not calling it Eastern Europe. Poland is very much Central Europe. The area near the IC is quite safe, and there is a nice shopping arcade nearby. If you don't want to venture beyond that area for dinner, then I would suggest heading on the other side of the Palace of Culture, just past the Centrum metro station. There are some decent places heading towards ul. Nowy Swiat. However, if you do want to venture out, then I would suggest going to the Stare Miasto area (about 3km NE of the hotel). In fact, you would go north on Nowy Swiat until it becomes ul. Krakovska.

Point taken, when I left Europe in the late 50s, everything east of the Iron Curtain was Eastern Europe. Times have changed, so Central Europe it is!
I thank you for the lesson.
Checking things out on Google maps tonight, plotting my walks.
I personally liked the restaurant in the hotel itself (Platter?). You could probably call the food "Modern Polish" (although I'm no expert at all on Polish food).
Edit to add: I normally don't eat in hotel restaurants. But I made an exception for this one, and was glad I did.
