Changes for tickets issued as per 16 April 2012 are:

Golf bags:
Can only be carried free of charge if part of the allowed allowance (i.e. if the cabin allowance is three pieces your golf bag is only free if it part of these three pieces).
Exception for Flying Blue Club Golf members.

Bicycles:
Special baggage surcharge.

Surfboard:
Surfboards longer than 107 cm are subject to the special baggage surcharge; surfboards shorter than 107 can be carried in the allowed baggage allowance provided weight < 23 KG.

So are they expecting extra revenue while you can still take a golf bag for free if you (only?) have a FB Golf account?

Yes they don't expect you to have a FB Golf account. And in the rare occasion you have such account, you're lucky.

Ofcourse every FT'er here has such account even if they never play golf, because a few years ago you earned some free miles opening such account.

Since I do not travel with surf boards, bikes or golfbags, I'm quite happy for them to charge for such items. The more revenue they generate from other passengers, the lower they can keep the basic fares I pay. I'm being selfish, I know.

And naive.
Are you suggesting that when firms make additional profits they generally reduce prices?

I'm somewhat surprised that taking a bicycle used to be free :o

And naive. Are you suggesting that when firms make additional profits they generally reduce prices? No, of course not. But as long as they try to keep headline fares as low as they can in a competitive market and instead generate income by introducing more and more charges that I do not have to pay, it is fine by me.

Exclusive offer to Flying Blue Golf members only on AIR FRANCE, KLM, CityJet, Brit Air, Regional and Air Europa operated flights.
Enjoy the fun of a round of golf abroad, playing with your favourite clubs. No need to rent a golf set in the pro shop at your golf destination, just take your own golf bag for free on your next trip, while other passengers have to pay!

3 easy steps to take your golf bag for free:
1. Go to your profile page – in the MyClub section – and click on ‘My free golf bag’
2. Fill out the form and print the voucher
3. Present your voucher at the check-in desk
(no voucher means you have to pay for your golf bag)

Two important rules
1. Please make sure the name and Flying Blue number on your voucher matches the information on your Flying Blue card and your ticket
2. If one of the flights in your journey is a non AIR FRANCE, KLM, CityJet, Brit Air, Regional or Air Europa operated flight, you will be charged for the whole journey
