My wife and I were flying F in Asiana last Saturday. We were seated in 4 E and F. Just before departure a couple boards and is seated in 1A and 1K. .Shortly after takeoff, a 3 year old boy is brought up to the F cabin by his sister from business class. The 3 year old sits with daddy the entire flight sharing his seat in 1K. About 45 minutes out of Seoul, we hit heavy turbulence and the kid starts crying and screaming. He then barfs and the flight attendants come out with some kind of spray to try and contain the odor. He carried on off and on foe several hours..Although I kept my quite about it, if daddy wanted to sit with the kid, he should have traded seats with his daughter. The flight attendants should have intervened. But of course their English is very limited. About 15 minutes out of LA, his sister comes to retrieve him.
It we be one thing if the kid was a revenue passenger. But he wasn't and it was just not right.

Kids will be kids. You should have been happy that the father had that time to bond with his child. Whatever happened to a little kindness and understanding?
Is it all about you?
You sound like a family and child hater. Perhaps you should just fly on private jets.
(N.B., I know mpclaw and this post is in jest. :D)

I think the point of being here is if the boy was in F with their parents when boarding it is ok, but not move up once after the plane take off. No one will say anything if the child occupy a seat in F, I have seen tons of kids flying F with their parents in his/her own seat. However, it is not the case here.
It is unsure if the 3 year old boy was a lap child or occupy a seat in C. If it is the later definately NOT ok.
It is NOT about someone being a hater or about kindness and understanding, it is about policy, and I could also see OZ FA in general being lack of fluent English skills would not interfere with the situation if the couple don't speak Korean.
And if the father want to bond of the child just like you said, he could have swap the seat in C with his sister just like what OP explained, or even trade with his F seat to his sister seatmate in C. This is a classic case of "self upgrading" using the excuse "it is a child then they think it's ok", we have seen tons of similiar threads in travelbuzz, like the mother is handicapped seated in C, and the daughter seated in Y, and the daughter make excuses about because her mother is handicapped, then she had to go to C to take care of her mother frequently, instead she could have asked her seatmate in Y to trade with her mother's C seat, so that her mother could sit next to her.

Malaysian has the right idea: no children in F, ever, under any circumstances!
