Hey guys,
I have purchased a Seat ticket and am flying with my brother who has no NZ status and he is on a Seat+Bag flying ZQN-CHC. I am *G and he will have 2 bags to travel with, I will have nothing but carry on.
Do you think NZ will let us take two bags as if it were me with the s+b ticket? I should have booked them the other way around but he wasn't traveling with me until just recently.
What would they charge me to upgrade my ticket to include a bag so we could effectively take 3? Or should I try swing it by the airport staff?
Cheers in advance

I enquired about this. If you do it over the phone it is $10 + $30 service fee or $30 excess bag fee if you do it at airport

I just experienced this by assuming I could upgrade s to s+b online for domestic travel. As described above your choices are:
Buy 'excess bag' for $30, or make a call to change the ticket (more expensive). I have to say the process on check-in at WLG was a time consuming pain in the **** !!

It seems quite sneaky to me that they don't let you upgrade the $10 online like you can with short-haul journeys. I guess they figure since there's no lucrative works deal on domestic flights to sell they can make sure charging $30 for excess baggage.

Isn't there a way to do it online at all?

The only 'online method' is to involves the $50 change fee, plus fare difference......barely worth the keyboard strokes to describe.

So if I pay the $40 (30+SF) over the phone I can take 2 bags no worries as *G but if I pay excess baggage at airpot of $30 I can only take one? Or does it mean I can take 2?

Correct
Just thought I would let you all know that I paid an excess bag fee at the CHC premium desk and she told me that once I have paid for one bag I can take another one complimentary due to my *G allowance.
So it doesn't matter if you do it at the airport or through the call centre in order to recieve 2 bags. That is what she said but we all know some people have different ideas.

I had this problem coming home yesterday. I was all good paying the $30 on checkin for a bag, but the agent I got was really good and just put my bag down as a stroller and avoided the $30 excess charge! Awesome service

Damn! I didn't know you could upgrade over the phone. I assumed it was the same rules as online = upgrade the fare if you want bags. Turned up at the airport with 2 bags and just paid the $105 excess fees....oh well at least I know for next time.
