hi, next summer i'll fly from italy to south africa in business class.

the best fares are (except egyptair that i do not consider an airline) with british airways and turkish.

i've never tried their business class products, and considering that price is approximately the same, what do you suggest?

TK !

If its on the newer 77W and A330 aircrafts, its better than BA's seat.

Catering is definitely better than BA's and their new Istanbul Business Class lounge would blow away BA's Terraces lounges anywhere ! Period.

Only one peace of advise.

Don't book a tight schedule ! See the IST congestion thread.

i was tempted to try turkish airlines, but i've red that in-fligt meal service is usually very very slow, (nothing to say about food quality), and the seat is not a true lie-flat bed. is it true?

Seats are fully flat beating BA's NGCW (on most flight - check this forum for details).

Yes - service is a bit slow, but quality of the food is fantastic...

It depends also a lot if you favor mileage accrual on Star or Oneworld.

Most are. But you must provide fare basis. The normal Business class coding is C for full fare, D and J are their discounted fares with restrictions.

i'll fly from blq to jnb

i've a doubt

going down the flght from blq is supposed to land at 22.15 and the flight to jnb

will leave at 00.55 with a 2,40 hours connectin time.

coming up the connecting time is 3.20 hours (6.40 a.m-9.00 a.m.)

Hearing and reading terrible stories about ataturk delays, do you think i will be

on my way without any problem?

As in other posts when TK works it works quite well although can feel a bit amateurish at times. The problem is they frequently run late, customer service is dreadful and you cant be sure what aircraft you will get until you board. I booked my last 4 flights as A330 300 flat beds and got the old non flat A330 200 3 times and an A340 once.

Meals are excellent but have always been painfully slow; which is OK on a day flight. Even getting that first drink can take an hour or so after take off with alot of elaborate bar setting up. I quite like them but they are very quirky.
