Is it a crazy idea to travel to Japan the week after golden week say 7th May to 13 May? Is this a good time to see cherry blossoms?

I don't know that it is "crazy." Probably as good as any other time in May. The cherry blossoms will all be gone. The season for that is late March to mid- to late April.

7/May onwards should be a pretty normal week. If you enter Japan the weekend before that week (5-6/May), you may find yourself amidst throngs of returning tourists.

Cherry blossoms will be long gone in the Tokyo region. In May, you can see them in the far North:

Too late for peach blossom too.

And too early to catch the ajisai (hydrangea) blooms, at least in Tokyo.

If you want to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo, you basically need to get on a plane right now.

The week after GW should be pretty ordinary.

But you are likely to encounter pleasant weather unless the rainy season starts unusually early.

Yeah weather wise I think that's one of the best times of the year to come.
