I booked hotels in excess of $800 a couple of days ago. At checkout on expedia.com, I was offered to sign up for Expedia Rewards, which I did. However, after staying at the first hotel, I learned that no rewards have been posted. After contacting customer support I was told that you need to be signed up for Expedia Rewards BEFORE buying anything and that I clearly was not signed up at this very point in time. I contacted the again making sure they understand that I signed up in the checkout process but no luck. For me this is total bait and switch and I discontinue to use Expedia for my bookings.

For you, beware before you put money on there and check that your reward account is properly set up.

I am not surprised to be honest. i have been using the new Expedia rewards program and it was very promising. that is until they decided to add a 30% margin on their program...

before: 100 Expedia points would give you $1 to spend on reward flight
NOW: 100 Expedia points would give you $0.7 to spend on reward flight - 30% less than before = 30% profit margin for Exedia.

Thank you for the "reward" expedia, you now have the most useless reward programme in the US.
