Orlando - Taxis from MCO (and in general)

Can anyone recommend the best taxi/cab company to use to go from MCO to Universal (and what the rough cost is)? Also would this company or another one be best for other journeys from/to Universal area?

Mears is probably the largest cab/bus/private limo company in the area. You can give them a call to get their prices.

I'm not sure what taxi fare would/should be, since I always rent a car.

Car services actually cheaper to Disney / Universal. Approx. $125 Round-Trip + tip. You pay the RT at dropoff on the outbound. Can book OW, but substantial discount on RT.

We used Mears (http://www.mearstransportation.com/services/attraction-tickets/) when we were there last November.

A return shuttle from MCO to Orange Lake Country club cost $34 each.

Shuttles to and from the parks were $18 each. Return journies need tp be booked during the day. If I remember correctly, you need to give a couple of hours notice.

Not the cheapest but quite reliable.
