India-based Airlines - "India Based Airlines"

I am not a fan :td::td::td::td:

So, I think it's time for a petition to submit to Babu and SanDiego1K. I want the "Airlines of India" title back.

As you've noticed, we're changing the name of the forum to India based airlines (sorry PVDtoDEL, we're not changing it back :D).

This is being done for two reasons:

1) consistency with other fora- i.e., we named Hawaii based Airlines with the destination first

2) ease of finding it - since forums are in alphabetical order, folks are more likely to look for India than Airlines

Most new people will find this forum through google anyway, not the front page.

Why is the hyphen missing in the forum name?

I don't mind the forum name adjustment but at least be consistent and get it right.

I start my FT experience thru 'myflertalk' where I only see the forums I subscribe to. AOI now dropped below bmi DC, no biggie...

And, the second line (description) has said for a long time "...Indian-based airlines". Why doesn't the FT policy forbid bad grammar?

I just posted in the Tech issues thinking the forum had disappeared altogether as it wasn't between AC and NZ! :o Phew, what a relief I found it. :D

Seriously, not bothered about the new name here. Kinda trivial to get your knickers in a twist about. ;)

Wow, you're asking folks to sign a "petition", but then chastising them if they choose not to because they are either a) okay with the change, or b) aren't wild enough about it to sign. :td:

Kinda like saying "I want your opinion, but if it's different than mine I'd prefer you not say anything".

I don't see anything to indicate that I 'signed' this petition. It's one thing to make snarky comments about grammar, as I did, it's another to think of this as a substantive matter.

I know FT is the world capital of obsessive-compulsiveness, but even so, this is a bit extreme. Standardization of the forum naming scheme is a reasonable thing.

I heard that West Bengal wants to rename itself to Paschimbanga so it won't be at the bottom of the alphabetized list of states. Maybe we could rename India to Bharat? or go a little further and call it Aarti Desh?

Does this mean that Emirates can now be moved to this forum? :D

its not the end of the world....the earlier name was definitely more convenient but there is nothing wrong with the current one....just let it be....there are more important things to worry about....

I don't mind at all -- I didn't even notice the change until I saw this thread, because I subscribe directly to the forum page and see it under "my flyertalk"

To do this, just go to the main AoI/I-bA page, click on 'Forum Tools' in the top right corner, then click subscribe from the dropdown menu. You will now see the forum under 'my flyertalk'

I thought the change was brought on by the dire state that Airlines of India are in, and this was a place holder for when this forum's name is changed to Indigo.:D
