Translation: be prepared for cancellations or schedule slippage for your selected flight. Aircraft maintenance has been rumored to be suspect, but this is Indonesia so you probably already knew that. Not sure what aircraft is running, thought it was a turboprop though.

You also might check and see what Lion Air and Trans-Nusa offer on this route. Not that the overall situation is any better or more reliable.

There's also sea crossing options, slow boat 4-ish hours, or fast 1+ hour. In bad weather, probably don't want to do this. But then again, in bad weather you don't want to be on an Indonesian domestic puddle jumper either.

Garuda do that segment now, and I would view the new look Garuda as the better option

Merpati usually flies the Xian MA60 plane on this route, yes.

Merpati did have one accident with this plane; it was investigated and found to be pilot error, not a plane fault.

If you don't want to fly Merpati, the other options are:

- Wings Air (partner of Lion Air, same website): 3 flights per day, ATR72-500
- Garuda Indonesia: 1 evening flight per day, Boeing 737

And then some smaller airlines:

- TransNusa: 2 flights per day, BAe146-100
- Sky Aviation: 2 flights per day, Fokker 50
