Hi there!
The hotel that OZ use in general is the Seoul Royal hotel which is a good 4 star in downtown Seoul. However as you are business class you will be given the option of a 3 star hotel close to the airport in the Airport town. I would advise you to go for the Royal hotel, you will be right in the centre of Seoul in a pretty good hotel and good shopping and bars close by. It's all very well organised however if you are at the Royal i would advise avoiding the evening meal and trying one of the nearby restaurants. However the breakfast is pretty good!

You exit customs into the arrivals hall, and head forward and right, looking for the Asiana desk on the opposite wall. If all else fails go to the airport info desk and ask where the Asiana desk is. Do resist the 3 star option if offered- although it's close it's probably not what you want. OK rooms but rock hard beds; food is dubious.
Seoul Royal is right in Myeongdong and does good food (although not the free dinner you'll be offered). Restos abound in the neighborhood if you're feeling confident

Hi!
I have a *A award booking in OZ First, and an (involuntary) layover of 20 hours in ICN on my way to FRA.
I know it's pretty unlikely, but is there any way that I will be treated to a hotel, too?
Regards, Jonas

Hi Jonas,
with an award booking you are unfortunately not eligible to receive a free transfer hotel stay. Get some nice place in Myeongdong and go to eat!

Do they at least ship me into town to my transit hotel?

Sorry for this being off topic.
I want to know if I have enough time to see Seoul. I arrive at 5:20am (Mon) and leave to China at 9:40am. Is there any chance?

Downunder - I fly economy and OZ usually gives me the June Hotel in Airport town - is the Royal reserved for business/first class only?

I'm afraid not enough time. It takes one hour each way from ICN to town.

As for transit hotel, the Hyatt Regency ICN is 5 minutes away, and they provide free shuttle.

No. Why should they? I'm afraid it's down to you to choose a hotel and get to it if on an award flight.

No. June is also offered to J pax depending on time of arrival if they prefer not to travel into town.. Seoul Royal is given to Y if available, and again depending on time of arrival- I think J get Exec floor and Y get normal floors.

The Royal is available to economy passengers too. I suspect that non Korean-speaking passengers are just assigned the June hotel.

As I speak Korean, I'm always asked if I want a hotel in Incheon, or a hotel in Seoul.

so, are you disagreeing with my post?:
"Seoul Royal is given to Y if available, and again depending on time of arrival- I think J get Exec floor and Y get normal floors."
That has always been my experience, whether you speak Korean or not.
Late arrivals at ICN get June in my experience, like it or not.

LOL

I wrote "The Royal is available to economy passengers too."

That could hardly be considered to be disagreeing... :)

My point is that because Koreans sometimes find it embarrassing to speak in English, if a non-Korean speaking passenger fronts at the desk, the default may be to just assign the June hotel without letting them know that an option is available.

I've seen this happen a few times where passengers in line ahead of me were automatically given June, whereas they asked me in Korean whether I would like to stay in Incheon or Seoul.

If in Transit dont even consider the Hyatt with Immigration, Customs, Security. Stay Airside at http://www.airgardenhotel.com/english/index.php

My award ticket flight arrives at 16:15 from JFK. Need to figure out the best routing to get to Kunming, China. It seems that there are no flights that I could resonably connect with on the same day so I'll need to overnight. I'd like to get an early flight out the next day and they seems to have more flight variety from Gimpo but is this too much of a hassle? Should I stay in ICN transit hotel and take a later flight to avoid headaches? What's the best option?
Thanks

I would just take the cheaper/more nice alternative, whatever that is. Getting from Incheon to Gimpo by direct train only takes 33 minutes and costs just a bit over 3$. Moreover if you are really staying overnight, get a hotel in the city and have a nice meal there and head back to one of the airports the next morning.

I agree with Lerwick. Since you are staying in Seoul, might as well get the most out of it. Take either the KAL Limo bus direct to a hotel in central Seoul or take the AREX train to Seoul and then taxi to hotel. Enjoy the rest of the evening in Seoul. Then early next morning take either taxi or AREX to Gimpo.

I think you would be bored staying at the airport hotel. Getting to and from the airport is relatively easy as you have multiple options to get round (taxi, bus, train).
