If I enroll for TSA Pre Check with AA and then fly on Delta will TSA Pre Check work with Delta ? Or do I have to enroll for TSA Pre Check with each individual airline ?

They cull the data from your airline profile. My guess is that if you fly more than one alliance, you are best getting Global Traveller and putting that number in each profile.

Pre-Check is granted based on elite status with DL / AA, and/or being a member of a CBP Trusted Traveler program (like Global Entry). If you get Global Entry, you can enter your PASSID into both your AA and DL profiles in order to get Pre-Check benefits when flying on either airline. If all you have is status on AA, then that will not transfer over to DL.

I have Global Entry, but I don't know how to find my PassID. Where is it? Is it e.g. My passport number?

It will be on the GE card you get in the mail. The guy who did my Interview said its the application confirmation number i got before scheduling the interview but when my card came in the mail it was completely different

It is in the top left corner of your GE/NEXUS card. It says "PASS ID" in size 8 font.

Can someone tell me if this will work? I frequently fly out of DCA on UA. United and Delta share a tier of gates. There is a PreCheck lane that would get me through to the UA gates. If I get Global Entry, can I use GE to access the PreCheck lane for my UA flight?

My understanding is that United isn't participating in this program yet. I thought it was only DL and AA.

AFAIK, UA is not participating yet. But there IS a place on the UA website to enter your PASSID.

One other issue: At DCA, there are some UA gates in the Delta pier (those are the old CO gates) and there are some UA gates in the AA pier (those are the old UA gates).

Pre-check is only installed at the DL gates at DCA. But the AA gates do not (as of a couple of weeks ago) have the strip-search machines. The lines at AA gates tend to move faster.

Your PASSID is the same as your Trusted Traveler # in your GOES account.

Exactly, I always go through the Delta pier for flights to IAH, so I see the PreCheck signs every time I go through security--and opt out of the nudiescope : (

Right, and since the trigger for the PreCheck lane is on the boarding pass, a UA boarding pass does not (currently) have the ability to grant you access.

But I wonder if, somewhere like ATL, you can use the Pre-Check lane when flying AA (assuming your PassID is in your profile).

ATL is currently a Delta-only location for PreCheck. AA BPs shouldn't ring up LLL at ATL.

It might possibly work. AS does not participate with precheck at ORD but AA does. They share a security check point and there have been reports of being allowed to use the lane. Since all the terminals at ATL are conncted airside, one might be able to use a different security check point to make it work

I just got an invitation to apply for Precheck via United, although the email said it was only appplicable at the moment at Chicago and Newark--not worth much to me. Is it really the case that, if you apply via one airline, you can only use the system when traveling on that airline? If so, it seems just like an attempt by the airlines to encourage airline loyalty now that their frequent flyer programs and elite status have been so degraded as to be hardly worth considering when deciding who to fly.

For anyone who flies more than one airline, wouldn't Global Access be the way to go? Or am I mistaken about the one-airline aspects of joining via one's elite status?

At this point, there seems to be no reciprocity for PreCheck between airlines. Even if there was, there would need to be some way to link the records through some kind of common identifying piece of information, which isn't being done, at least at this point (although GE/NEXUS/SENTRI gives you that common number).

I remember reading on here about an AA elite who had been invited for PreCheck. He submitted his AAdvantage number in his AS booking, and then he received LLL when flying out of SEA. This would suggest that PreCheck eligibility can be communicated between airlines.
