Did you read about the Azamara fire? They did have a fire extinguisher, and they did follow the safety drill. They put out the fire, and all the passengers praised the work of the crew.

Of course cruise ship fires are uncommon. There are 100 ships out there every week, and you only read about fires extremely rarely. Not sure you need an expert to tell you this.

Fire is probably the most feared thing on any ship, cruise or cargo. It's probably the most practiced emergency procedure, and on many ships there's very advanced systems that monitor for fire, sprinklers, etc. If you have ever been on a ship when an alarm sounded, you know unlike on land it's taken very seriously.

Because they take it so incredibly seriously, it's not very high on my list of worries on board.
