Hyatt Gold Passport - Hyatt Gold Passport 90-day trial Platinum status - Visa Signature

Not sure if anyone has posted this, but Visa Signature posted on their Facebook page a trial Platinum status offer for Hyatt. "You must have a Visa Signature card and enter your card number on the page.

Registration Page (http://www.visasignature.hyatt.com/)

As part of Visa Signature's special travel offers, enjoy complimentary Hyatt Gold Passport Platinum status, which includes:

•Preferred rooms based on availability
•2:00 p.m. late check-out upon request
•15% point bonus
•Complimentary in-room Internet
•Expedited check-in

Verify your card and register by May 11th to receive trial Platinum status for 90 days from date of registration.

This is a little better than the 60 day offer with its regular status challenges, though you can try for the Diamond challenge if you have status with another program.

Not sure if during this trial, you can get the 2 free nights in a suite by applying for the Chase Hyatt card, since you'd be technically a Platinum. Anyone care to give it a shot?

I can't get it to work...I have a couple Visa signature numbers though...

Isn't a Diamond Challenge a one time thing?

Works for me. In any event it's hosted on Hyatt's website, for better or for worse.

This is my question, too; it'll determine whether I get the trial Platinum now or wait a month or so to match it up with an application for the Hyatt card I'm planning anyway. Along the same lines (and maybe an indicator of the answer here), has anyone applied for the Hyatt card while in the middle of a platinum (or higher) status match, which would seem like a similarly-temporary status as far as the IT system would be concerned?

I don't think the IT system recognizes any kind of "temporary" status whatsoever, a Diamond is a Diamond.

That's great news. Further refinement of the question, though: If I get this temp platinum status, then get the credit card (and potentially get two free suite nights), will I need to use those up *before* the 90 days of temp platinum runs out, or will I have them banked to my account, and my "regular" platinum status will still let me book them several months from now (for a big trip I'm planning in 2013).

Plats don't get 2 free suite nights for getting the credit card - they get 2 free nights in a regular room and 2 suite upgrade certs (applicable only on paid stays - much like the Diamond Confirmed Suite Upgrades).

Very nice. I applied on a Saturday, got the Diamond match on the following Tuesday, received the card a week from then, and only got the nights, not the suites. They are "up" on the status "at the time of the application."

So how long is it taking to upgrade status after you register? I'm staying at the Vendome on the 18th, but am at the HR Columbus on July 5 and want that night to count toward my 8 nights for Plat. Only a 90 day window, so I want to time it just right. What day do you think I should register to get both?

Apr 7, 12, 8:18 pm
Mine is showing me as a Platinum member until the end of July. It's been a long day, but my math is suggesting that's more than 90 days.

Mine went through the next day but my husband's (which I did later) has not yet gone through. Hoping to get him the new Hyatt card with essentially fee waived and take advantage of the suite upgrade as well as getting the two free nights. Between the two of us, that would work out pretty nicely.

I've tried signing up numerous times and each time I managed to get till the Registration Confirmation page but my status never changed to Plat. I've tried emailing Hyatt customer service but they could not see that I've enrolled in this promo. Same thing for my husband, no status update after almost a week. We've just joined Hyatt Gold Passport right before signing up for the promo, could that be a problem? Anyone has any idea?

As a data point, this did work for me. After about 24 hours, my account updated to Platinum. It's set to expire 7/31.

Question about Platinum. The GP website says that Platinum members get a 72-hour guarantee of room availability. Does that only apply to paid stays, or would it also count for award stays? I'm assuming it's only for paid stays, but thought I'd ask.

Yes only on revenue stays - at the high Hyatt Daily Rate - to invoke the availability guarantee.

Having the same problem. Tried emailing and calling GP. They told me that Hyatt has to receive confirmation from the credit card issuers and in my case they are not, so that is why the promo isn't going through. They recommended that I call the issuers to see what the problem is. I feel like I'm just getting the run-around.

Tried both Chase and Citi Visa Signature cards so far and none worked so far. Might just have to call Chase and Citi if this still doesn't go through.

Same! I'm using my Chase Sapphire and Citi AA card. I haven't pulled out my stack of rarely used cards but I don't think any of them are Visa Signature.

Anyone that successfully signed up for this promo, what 'brand' Signature card were you using?

I signed up Weds afternoon and just signed in and my status is showing as platnium.

The card I used was my Citi Hilton Visa.

I see one of the benefits listed is 2 p.m. checkout upon request. Is this a guaranteed benefit like Starwood's 4 p.m. checkout or is subject to availability like Hiltons late checkout? My friend and I both have flights around 5:00 Memorial day weekend when I will be staying at the Hyatt on Wacker in Chicago and the 2 p.m. checkout would be great but the hotel is going to be sold out (or close to it) with a lot of checkouts that day.

Oh well, I just applied for the Hyatt Visa and got approved so I'll get Platinum anyways. I was mainly wanting to get this free upgrade 'first' so I qualify for the 2 room upgrades. But I need my Hyatt 2 free certs fast, no time to wait.

Must be updating that site, since you just get a Visa card with nowhere to enter numbers. The frame the card is in also displays "We cannot process your request at this time." in red letters. Hopefully this will clear up the issue of it not working with certain Signature cards.

I did it for my account last weekend and it worked fine. I don't recall exactly how many days it took but I would say around 3 days. Used a SWA VS card.

I did it for a family member's account over this weekend and they're still Gold. Though I was told a Hyatt rep has to 'manually' go over each request and approve it and that it is only done M-F. They used a SWA VS card as well.

I got it to work using IE and a FIA Fidelity Visa Sig card. I tried at home on my mac w/FF last night and it didn't work. I might try for the Chase card and the upgrade certs during the 90 days. I stay at a hyatt for a conference every march - so timing could have been better.

I was told by Gold Passport rep that it will take up to 48 hours for status upgrade to show. I would send a email today,it will take them days to respond but you would have written documentation at least. If you have time then call.If you get a GP rep that claims it's a Visa Signature issue & you need to contact Visa hang up. Try again until you find someone helpful.

It didn't work for me :( I tried to sign my fiance up for the VISA match with a Sapphire card and Hyatt never updated it from Gold to Platinum. Has anyone signed up for this promo and then signed up for the Hyatt CC promo with the 2 suite upgrades for Platnium?

I signed up for the credit card mainly to avoid foreign currency fees on a few trips coming up (and figured it was a cheap way to do it for a year since you get the credit back making the first year free) and it said platniums were to get 2 free nights and 2 suite upgrade coupons. Just wondering if I will get those or if Hyatt will claim I am not a real plantium since it was only temporary status.

I would think you would be considered a "real" Platinum - much the same way that someone who is enrolled in a Diamond challenge is considered a "real" Diamond for all purposes including the credit card sign up bonuses.

And I just found out that is the case:) I called the 800 number as instructed in the pack to tell them I received the card and when she was going over the benefits she said since I was platnium I would get 2 suite upgrades.

I was very impressed they overnighted the card and it was in a real nice packet.
