Economy comfort and seats with extra leg room are suppose to be free of charge to those with platinum. I used this once when in economy and it worked well-booked the seats, no charge.

Now, trying to do the same, I am being asked for Eur 25 for a seat with extra legroom. I'm still platinum. Not a lot of money, but still...

Are there some loopholes in this rule or exceptions I am not aware of?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!

This is online? It should be free indeed. Is your number entered correctly?
Otherwise try to get it assigned free over the phone.

Would it be considered a downgrade if seats are available! but actual seating is refused? I recently booked a flight with Airfrance, but there were no seats any longer available when the ticket was issued. When checkin was closed however, seats remained unoccupied. In the lounge this was not discovered, at the gate they could not change and the purser refused to change seats (even though it was a full fare ticket). At the helpdesk they are saying it is not a downgrade, as this class should have been booked in advance, but should this not be considered 'decabinage' and result in a partial refund?

I don't know what KL exactly has in their T&C's, but if there is stated 'bases on availability' you'll no right to claim.
