So why do we have the TSA? This evening I arrived at Howard’s Beach and transferred to the air train so I could get to my hotel shuttle bus. There were two TSA clerks in uniform waiting for the train. When it arrived the station staff realised there was an abandoned bag and started screaming at the departing people asking ‘who left a bag behind’.
No one collected it so everyone was told to get off the train. The TSA clerks walked away and started whinging about the delay. Eventually the next train came and we boarded it.
My question: Why didn’t the TSA clerks handle the situation? If it was dangerous enough to cancel the train shouldn’t something have been done to ensure our safety? Anything? Or was it better handled by the highly trained train staff who just cancelled the train and let us wait beside it until the next train came along?
Now I get to experience the joys of USA domestic flying in the morning.
