Virgin Australia Velocity - Challenges are good for business
For the past two years I have travelled extensively internationally on Qantas and accrued the miles to American airlines getting to Exec Plat on the Aadvantage program. Now that I am flying oz more domestically now I would like to switch to Virgin. However having to start at at zero again is a huge issue for me.
Despite calling and emailing the Velocity program I've been told there are no opportunities for a match or a challenge. This is dissapppointing as Virgin has an opportunity to Steal one of Quantas best customers and they can make it work for me.
Any other options anyone can refer me to?
Thanks,
Joel

Virgin Australia did do a status match last September for competitor top fliers, including QANTAS and United Airlines, but it was for a limited period.
See this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/virgin-australia-velocity/1251388-velocity-status-match-offer.html.
You never know, they may decide to run the promotion again soon.

Just because you are EXP with AA doesn't mean you are a high value customer, compared to some. You can't even spell their name correctly.

Opportunities to status match do occur although they do not just give them out on a daily basis. After all, elite status shows your loyalty to the airline. If you really want to earn elite status, I would suggest flying the miles.
