Got an email and now confirmation by snail mail that Barclay's is following up their recent 2000-point bonus promotion for the Choice Visa card with an offer of 5 points per $1 spent at gas stations, grocery stores, and home improvement stores in April, May, and June. Somewhat puny bonus cap: 2500 points which means $500 worth of spending over three months in these three categories. Or, at the current price of gas, four or five refills of a Chevy Suburban. Still, this matches the earnings rate for using the card for Choice reservations and will certainly keep the card nearer my wallet than my sock drawer for awhile.
Registration is required to qualify for the bonus points so don't start spending until you get an email/snail mail with the offer.

Definitely targeted - I just signed up without having to put in any info. I'd edit the link out of your post if I were you, so you don't have several hundred sign ups.
Definitely targeted - I just signed up without having to put in any info.Me too, and I didn't get an email either.
I haven't checked either my Barclay account or the Choice account to see if I really got signed up. Is there any way to tell?

I have tried to register, and I've gotten the same result: no indication that I've actually registered. In fact, I've done this drill at least four or five times with no confirmatory email and nothing when I next try to register that tells me I've already registered (my normal way of doublechecking that I've already registered). If I hadn't gotten the snail mailing, I might have become concerned that I'd gotten a spoof email.
I've already edited out the personal information from the link. I don't think I'm giving any personal information away. I've just never gotten such a targeted promotion before, or I would have picked that up before making my original post.
My usage pattern on the card: I made the first purchase required for the first set of points, stayed at a Choice property to get the second set. I then put the card in a low-level rotation, putting $30-50 per month on the card in addition to any Choice bookings I might have made. In January, without any prompting, I decided to increase its use to about $300 worth of spend with the intention of then going back to my previous level. Then, I got the spend $500 in February and March promotion for the extra 2000 points. Met that. Intended to go back to the $30-50 level for awhile but then got this promotion. Qualified for platinum through stays at Choice in 2011 and my stays are pretty spread out--no more than four in a month, no less than one in the last ten months. Have participated in their Choice Panel surveys. Can't think of anything else that would have brought me within their radar for these two promotions back-to-back.
I think Barclay's is simply getting more aggressive with their cards. They're running similar promotions on the US card. I haven't yet gotten the rolling promotion for that card that offers 15K US miles for $1250 spending for three consecutive months, but these offers give me hope.
