Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus - Standby on TG for earlier flight out of SIN?

Does Thai Airways allow passengers to standby for an earlier flight from Singapore to Bangkok? If they do, is the procedure the same as in the U.S. (one just showing up at the airport earlier and hoping there are seats)? I'm a *G - if that makes any difference (it probably doesn't).
Thanks for any insights!

For this route id be surprised if they didn't. I would think that this is a very popular route to do standby in either direction.
In standing by on various TG flights, though not this specific route, my experience has always been that they allow you to standby for any flight, provided your ticket is in a booking class that allows you to change your flight. If it doesn't permit it, they absolutely don't allow you to standby, unless it's possible to upgrade it to a booking class that does, and you pay whatever fees are necessary. And even if the booking class does allow it, there still might be a fee for changing the flight.
Priority is always first to TG elites - ROP Golds and I presume ROP Platinums will now trump Golds. There was one flight where there was a long list of people on standby. I went up to the counter just before the cut-off, and went right to the top of the list and got on the flight along with only one other person, and got lots of stares from the others on standby. Not sure what they do with non-TG *Gs, but wouldn't be surprised if you didn't get any special treatment.
I can confirm that standing by in Singapore is not a problem as long as your ticket allows flight changes. I have done standby there many times myself.
You just show up at the counter and get yourself listed. Then you have to come back to the counter at the closing time of the flight to (hopefully) pick up your boarding pass.
List priority is TG Platinum/Gold first, then Star Gold, then others, within these groups the order is by the time of arrival at the counter. I have the impression that booking class doesn't make a difference but i'm not sure about that.
I believe the OP is asking for standby on an earlier flight with a NON rebookable ticket (in the same way as in the US). It is pretty obvious that you can change a flexible ticket to an earlier flight (against payment of any applicable rebooking fees and upgrade to higher booking class if needed) - but I dont think the OP is looking for this.
TG will NOT allow you to standby/change your flight unless rebooking is allowed. Perhabs if your flight is full and volunteers for VDB may become neccessary, you got a chance.

That is not truth, last time i had a cheapy(W or V) to BKK for the morning flight but arrived to SIN the day before in the early evening( SQ 380 ^) i went to the checkin to give it a chance.
Staff made a phonecall and then i got cleared to go same evening so a non rebookable ticket can be changed.
Off course TG Gold made a difference.
In my opinion, you probably just got lucky and had an agent who was exceptionally helpful or felt sorry for you. I'm a long standing ROP Gold member, and have arrived early numerous times at various airports and checked about the possibility of getting on an earlier flight, and the answer has always been something like, "not possible with your ticket."
Also, do you know that your original flight wasn't full? If it was full, then obviously it would have been to TG's advantage to let you on the earlier flight, but still may have required a call to headquarters to allow the change.

Off course i was lucky... and the next day morning flight was wide open in Y... so it's possible to have a change of flights with a cheapy but not necessarily common practise.

Revenue bookings are usually possible.
Award bookings are usually not possible... especially if you didn't book through ROP.

Even award bookings in F? Flying HKG-BKK in F next week on an award ticket and would like to standby for an earlier flight. My odds are slim?

The eight oclock flight is the 747, I have always used this one, there is nothing earlier and to the best of my knowledge that is the only F for the day, but if there is, you will be told

There is a 2 class 7:05PM flight that ideally I would like to take. Even if I need to downgrade to C or Y I would do so in order to spend some more time in the lounge in BKK before my connecting flight!

Sorry about that, didn't read your post properly, you have obviously worked out I was writting about ex BKK. Personally I don't see a problem, and have done it numerous times, but I read other stories here to the contary.

I'm guessing your award booking was made through CO. If so ROP won't touch your booking for any changes. Following this line of thought you can call CO and switch your flights; that would be the only way to accomplish what you want.... again, if you used CO miles.
