Star Alliance - how far in advance to SA partners publish award seats?

I am looking to travel on ANZ to Cook Islands around Christmas this year in First Class. I am using US Airways miles.

When I called US Airways, they said ANZ hasn't released award seats yet. Is this common? How far in advance do they offer seats? Since it is a busy time of year, I don't want to get screwed.

Air New Zealand doesn't have First Class, so you'll be waiting a long time... ;)

Availability to RAR is tough any time, and availability on any airline around Christmas is even tougher. Good luck!

I looked, and the airfare around Xmas is only $1,000 for Business class on ANZ Business Class.

edit:: no lie flats. For a 10 hour flight, I am going to have to pass. Has anyone had experience with this route flying from LAX?
