So lucky!!!!! Well, there goes your EXP status and upgrade to NRT ;)

LAX-SFO one ways are too much for me to reposition.

The return BOS-LAX-SFO schedule also doesn't work for me as AA doesn't allow the LAX-SFO leg to be next day.

My one departing tomorrow has ticketed as well. Still waiting on the other two, but well within normal AA ticketing timelines.

Only "problem" is these are W fares, this is gonna ruin my low EQP/EQM ratio!

No, but when you go to purchase, you might get a "your fare has changed" message. In that case, you have to call AA and have them force the original price. As an EXP, I've never had a problem but YMMV. I converted my two PNRs from HOLD to Purchase about a half hour ago, without a problem. But later in the day, who knows.

No 500s left at the moment . Burned them all upgrading myself and traveling companion on BOS-LAX for my vacation to SF last week. Well worth it, despite a 5h41m incredibly fast flight BOS-LAX. Normally over 6 hours, closer to 6h30m. Who would have thought I'd be back so soon? :D

I got all exit rows, even only 24 hours out. One middle, but I'll live, hopefully someone will get shifted.

Just had the second one ticketed. Likely going to cancel the third within my 24 hours.

I read this thread and this one was the last post at the time.

I had no computer near me and tried to do it on my phone. Priced SFO-ORD-DFW-BOS-MCI for $240 AI (already had fly to SFO) but had an important phone call. With PLT + DEQ11 I was on my way for +12,000 miles at 1.8CPM!

I'm also flying to SFO next weekend and coming back a week later, now I suspect some of my fellow passengers will be flying for half the price.

I flew it for $240 last week and thought I did good when I booked that. I flew it for $220 in January and thought I did really good when I booked that. I'll be  if I see it lower anytime soon. I love SFO though, happy to go back 3 more times even if just for a few hours.

Interesting that on ExpertFlyer, the W bucket appears last and is zeroed out (even though there is O and/or Q availability, which are typically the lowest). Looks like revenue management may have just zeroed out the W buckets while they sort this out.

Rule #1 of FlyerTalk: "When there is an exceptionally great mileage run fare to be had, you must a) drop what you are doing no matter the consequences, b) get on the phone or to a computer and book the fare ASAP, and c) check immediately after booking that ticket(s) in fact have been issued.

:D

CDKing

b) get on the phone

Nope that violates the #1 rule. Do not ever call the airline.

Well technically it can tie with the other rule. Drop everything you are doing and book even though your not sure you can go. There's always 24 hour cancel

Wasn't there some new federal legislation mandating 24 hour refunds? Thought it was due to be in effect around now.

edited to add: It's actually a DOT ruling.
http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/rules/EAPP_2_FAQ_01-11-2012final.pdf

The part I'm thinking of reads:

allowing reservations to be held at the quoted fare without
payment, or cancelled without penalty, for at least twentyfour
hours after the reservation is made if the reservation is
made one week or more prior to a flight’s departure date .

No mention of a paid ticket versus just the reservation, so it looks like AA is complying, as Spiff pointed out, with a 24 hour hold.

Wish I had bought more of these now, didn't have time to do the math before and am kicking myself now. Basically 1 cpm for RDM with the elite bonus and DEQ11. And 1.0 EQP on a W fare, could have given myself an outside chance at the 125k EQP AA bonuses. Oh well, I'm currently in SF on the first one, so they are definitely honored of course.
