Africa - Transfer at JNB in August, separate reservations

Hello,

I will be travelling around South Africa in August. On the last day of the trip I am planning to fly Kulula (or perhaps Mango) from CPT to JNB to catch my flight back to Europe at JNB (on LH, a separate reservation, of course). I will have 5 hours for making the connection (arrival at 13:55, departure from JNB 18:55), which seems more than enough. However, I have just read that CPT experiences fog more frequently than any other international airport in South Africa. Are weather-related flight disruptions common toward the end of August? Do you think I should fly on the previous day and spend the night around JNB or is it overcautious?

Thank you.

You should be fine. Fog is rarely an issue at the time of day (noon) that you will be flying.

Well, maybe CPT has fog problems once a year vs other airports once every two years....;). Fog is not an issue to worry about when travelling by air in South Africa.

Honestly, 5 hours is an eternity in this context!
