Practical Travel Safety Issues - I got Precheck without the Global Entry interview?

Got approved for Global Entry interview yesterday, scheduled it for tomorrow. Today when flying from MSP and going through security the electronic boarding pass scanner beeped three times and the TSAgent said its because I qualify for PreCheck. I never added any information to my profile. Was the TSAgent mistaken or is there a bug in the process?

Precheck does not require an interview.

Who looks gift horses in the mouth? :D I am guessing the embedded code was misread by the terminal or the agent just gave you a pass. But actually I do not know the answer to your question; my PreCheck came some time after taking out Global Entry. GE did require an interview, but I am not sure when in the process they can issue the PreCheck.

It does work well, IMO - Monday arriving LAX and having about 1.5 hours from AA137 from LHR to my Eagle to SMF iirc. Took perhaps 15 minutes from the door of arriving 7AC to the Flagship Lounge. ^

Moved to TS/S Practical as it is not specific airline-related.

So I thought there were two routes to getting into PreCheck:
1. Be invited because of FF status
2. Be in another Known Traveler program

I wasn't invited, but I wanted those benefits so I went with route #2. But I guess now that means #2 is not required either?

Being a Delta Gold basically means auto-invite. Even if you did not get/read the email stating this. Just goto Delta.com, login, select profile. Ensure that the checkbox at the very bottom is selected.
