Mileage Run Discussion - MR or not to MR

Hello everybody! Sorry can't contribute much to this board, only knowledgeable enough to ask questions :)

This is more of a general question to whether I should even try this. I found quite a few threads about award travel to Asia with routing through Europe, but not much about doing a mileage run to Europe through Asia.

My situation is as follows - silver with *A right now, need 23,000 miles for Gold. Probably would get Gold anyway by the end of the year, but, as always, the sooner the better. Got a trip to Moscow coming up where I am pretty flexible on dates/ travel time/ etc.

So I am thinking about making a mileage run out of it. What are the chances of finding reasonable fare to connect through Asia? Looks like there should be 1 stop itineraries through PEK, SIN, BKK.

Unfortunately not that familiar with ITA to put together a proper search, so help is appreciated.

Is it worth it? Flying out of SDF, CVG, LEX in June...

My two questions are always "Do you plan to use the status?" and "will you requalify next year?" Sounds like the answer to number one is yes, if number two is yes as well and you can find some decent fares then I say go for it.

play around on orbitz w/ routes & dates.....if you see something close to what you want, post the ticket here & ask for help in maxing the eqm w/in your price range....

Even if you find smth via asia it may earn you a fraction of bis miles dependind or airline and fare bucket.
And mr term really doesnt apply to your case - you are just trying to maximize your mileage for an existing trip.

Yes, I do have a few trips coming up this year (which is part of the question - looks like I will qualify by the end of the year), as well as I do seems to travel more every year, so will most likely qualify next year as well.

In addition, and I know it's a bit silly, I can use the extra miles - need to buy a few tickets for relatives to come visit in the US, so I could really use the miles.

I agree, this is not a pure mr, but without mr it would be sdf-iad-dme, not sdf-iah-sin-dme :)
