hi
just thought i would share a recent very positive experience with the Sydney office; i was seeking what i thought was a somewhat complex Award booking for myself and a colleague; 4 sectors; two different accounts and possibly the need to use multiple carriers; got some great advice and a more direct routing than the one i had planned; was wait listed on a BKK-SYD and the agent advised they would send a request for the award seats to be made available and within 48 hours we had secured our tickets.
only sad note was the fuel surcharge.................................but when it comes to get an Award flight when u want it, this program is hard to beat!
and the two Agents i spoke with on the phone were really really nice.
Well done guys!
for those who are interested, i was also told that the 744 and the A340 currently rotating on the Syd - Bkk will be replaced late april by a 74R - cant wait to fly on the newly refurbished birds!

ROP sucks for accruing miles, but when it comes to redeeming them, it is the best .

Late April seems wishful thinking, but if that's the case I will have to reconsider departing Sydney instead of Melbourne for a trip in May and perhaps moving up to F.

I am sure that is what the Agent told me but certainly worth a quick call to them to confirm.

Good to hear some positive news, I've dealt with the TG SYD office a couple of times and found them to have quite good customer service.
Interesting on the 74R... I'm doing SYD-BKK F in July so it would be to see... I won't be getting my hopes up though!

Have also found TG staff in SYD to be excellent, one staff member especially has been extremely accommodating on several occasions. The only slight issue I see is the length of time you have to hold before a call is answered!

I spoke to the Sydney agents today and agree very pleasant service.
Also, the woman I spoke to did say 'the nice new refitted one' in regards to the SYD-BKK flight, so whatever that means sounds nice. :)

+1. My sentiments exactly.

As I understand it, the 74R is merely the 7443 config with updated economy and AVOD. Thus there is minimal difference between it and the 744. The aircraft with new F is the 74N which is coming into service as the 747 (All Series) is refurbished.

As someone who is destined to sit at the back of the bus most of the time, the economy refit is a big ++++! ;)

SYD-BKK, 30th June
BKK-SYD, 13th June

Not so far as I know. The likely aircraft for your flights are the 744 or 74R which have new old F and either old or new Y respectively.
