Should I be interested in Alaska Airlines if I live in Cleveland, OH?
Any benefits to me if I occasionally fly to Hawaii even though Alaska doesn't fly out of Cleveland?
Thanks!

Alaska partners with both Delta and American, so if you fly either or both of those airlines you can credit your flying to the Alaska program and possibly fly to Hawaii faster than you would on only one carrier. I don't know what your current flying habits are but that is just one of the possible reasons to check out the Alaska program. They also have alot of International carriers as partners.
AS does have several east coast cities to start from but you would need to backtrack a bit.

Don't forget AS' one-partner rule for awards. Use AA or DL to get out of CLE and that's the only carrier (other than AS) you can use for the entire itinerary.
Id say it depends what "occasionally" flying to Hawaii means and whether you travel much elsewhere and if so where to?
Theyre companion fare from the AS visa would be of little to no value since you would have to drive, ride a bus, or fly to ORD, PHL, or STL to use it.
There has got to be better more efficient ways to get to Hawaii from cleveland than AS  so mostly depends on other flying habits...like if you fly to ANC or FAI a lot or lots of northwest coast then sure AS would maybe be a good program for you. If most of your other travel is eastward and south then AS..not such a good program for you

Cleveland is a mini hub for CO and now the new UA. They have a direct flight to SFO where you can fly to Hawaii. I would stick with the new United if you want to earn miles for a trip to Hawaii.

Unless you're frequently flying to cities like FAI or JNU, or small PNW cities like ALW or PUW, I don't see what the point would be unless they start flying to Cleveland.

And family still does live there.
I'm much happier now, though, that I'm in the PNW.

Not unless you can drive to one of their east/midwest cities and get their BOA AS Visa card for the $99 companion fare.

AS would be a reasonable place to stash miles from various carriers if you don't plan on hitting elite status anywhere. There are several aspirational awards (BA, CX and EK in premium classes) that are attractive.
