LAN LANPASS - No beer... or Lan Colombia hates me

Took advantage of that exceptional 3k award offer in JohnnyLandia Colombia. Impressions?

1. Everything Aries has been converted to Lan world. Purser confirmed this, manuals, procedures, videos, all converted.
2. ... well except, no Cusquena offered on the flights, in fact no beer at all (horrors). And Juan Valdez is ever present.
3. Interior spotless, but one plane was so old the window was so pitted to make viewing impossible.
4. Seat pockets had a card outlining passenger rights, clearly stating what you will get including if your flight is late 2-4 hours, 4-6 hours, after 22:00, or cancelled. Think it is a Colombia thing, but nice to see such transparency.

Taking more 3k award flights so will check to see if first impressions were accurate.

Ps Colombia is way nice.

Speaking of Juan Valdez, I want to be clear: LAN offers no freshly brewed coffee on any flights? Or is Juan just an option? I've never been clear on this!
Because the breakfast menus are tricky they offer Jaun Valdez as one option and "Cafe con Leche" as another. But is the latter just Jaun Valdez Instant with milk? Or is it even worse --- is the milk instant too?

Nice!

Remember LAN Colombia is LA not LP, so far as I am aware the service onboard is the same as LA single class domestic in Chile. Not that I am defending the absence of beer. AV also doesn't have beer but does have a business class.

LAN Colombia has no A320's older than 4.5 years, which isn't really old in the big scheme of things.

I know a good eye surgeon in Bogotá if you want to get those cataracts sorted next time you are passing by.

More transparency than the windows apparently

Ps Colombia is way nice.

I am sure Colombia would welcome you back too

I´d rather suck the tag nuts off the back of a buffalo than drink that filthy Juan Valdez bilge, but in answer to your question, the coffee that they add leche to is the same as the other coffee that is sold in "tinto" form.

Whether it is JV instant or freshly brewed is immaterial, they are both crap

Ah but didn't I read somewhere that Lan had an agreement with the senior senor Valdez to supply his coffee to all in Lan world, not just Colombia land. You won't be able to escape it even by fleeing Colombia.

I stand corrected.
LP is avoiding juan valdez and continues to serve Altamayo coffee, so a good cuppa is still possible outside Colooombia.

Good, Perú in my opinion has better coffee than Colombia. I don't think it is because Colombia exports all the good stuff. I don't think they know how to take the coffee beans and turn them into a potable beverage.

Ooops

Anyway Bingo ought to check out Avianca domestic in Colombia. There still isn't any beer, but there is a nice selection of juice boxes, business class seating and lounges at both ends (which do have beer) none of which LAN Colombia has.

In fact I think my next trip to Lima will be AV. If my upgrade clears I will have a flat bed, a huge telly and trolley service in courses. If not I will still get a proper meal up the back, far better than LAN Perú's frozen ham and cheese croissants.

The only downside is that AV doesn't have Inca Kola
