I don't remember this ever lasting 5 weeks, so at least that's a good thing. Discounts the first 2 weeks are a little lean, but typical. I recommend not buying the Avis days because the rate isn't that cheap and their certs are a PITA to actually use. The Alamo deal is actually good (albeit unexciting) and most flyertalkers would probably find some use for it (bascially, when you don't have another applicable coupon). The SeaWorld ticket deal is good if you're heading to SeaWorld -- this is about the lowest ticket price you can find.
Obviously, most folks are waiting for good points deals at the hotels and such.

Is there a hidden catch on the NYNY deal from MGM that people have run into in the past?
That actually doesn't look so bad, given that there's no date restriction/"promotion availability" terms on that. Your typical Vegas strip room in that quality of hotel usually runs $150+ on a busy weekend. You're getting a room plus show tickets and $150 dinner credit.

I do not think seaworld ticket is a great deal
the listing price at website for San Antonio seaworld is about $60 fro 2 entries (go two different days), with the xbay purchased coupon code you can take about $10 off each, which mean u spend about $50 for 2 entries to SAN Antonio seaworld, that is what I got and did on 2011

Wow. Everyone's travel needs are different, but I bought several of those Alamo certificates last time and I've used them all. And, frankly, my first preference would be to use another discount at one of the more business-oriented outfits (Hertz, Nat'l, Avis) where I have club membership. Sometimes, though, Alamo is significantly cheaper, and this cert made it exceedingly so.

San Antonio SeaWorld may be cheaper. I know for Orlando, you're not going to easily find a way to get in for $40 (with the AMEX discount). In fact, I bought these certs two years ago (I think it was about the same price), and when I couldn't go, I sold them for a small profit on ebay to an appreciative buyer who told me I "saved" her vacation (which means there's little risk in buying them if your travel plans are uncertain).

Right: almost NOBODY should buy the Avis certificates. There's blackout days, high taxes, etc. Just not worth the trouble. The Alamo certificates are easy to use and, if they repeat it, the Hertz points are valuable too.

First two weeks of the offer is a complete disappointment, I must say.
IHG deal is available all year long for the same price with the AmEx discount, eg 1000/$6 (and if you use your priority credit card, you get 10% of the points more).

The upside is
- no risk of you account being cancelled as some have reported with the trick

This is truly ironic to me.
Last 2 years we were on board a cruise ship going over Atlantic ocean and had no access to internet for the most part of the promotion, let alone be there at the bid opening time...
This year our cruise is not until April 28 so I have been in anticipation of this year's promo and hope to get some choice points...
The first 2 weeks offering is truly a big yawn, even the Marriott Travel Card is just barely interesting with 20% combined discount. Sigh.

I'm not sure I find the Hilton that enticing this year given the massive devaluation of points that has come about with the "premium rooms for premium points" pricing system where there is no guarantee that 50k points will get a room even when relatively low rates at a property are available for money.

I don't know a lot about Wyndham but I noticed they had a hotel on Kauai that is 30K points and usually sells for $270 a night ++. OK, the math on the Wyndham offer using it as a mileage transfer, assuming that you use AMEX for the 10% discount, and, unlike 2011, there is no transfer bonus from any airline (US had a 50% transfer bonus last year)...
$543.60 nets you 190,000 Wyndham points, which can be cashed into 75,200 US/AA/UA/DL/CA/AB and random assorted other mileage plans (and leaves you with 2,000 Wyndham left over).
That's ~.72 CPM (yes, I have the decimal point in the right place, less than a penny a mile).
There are some who would argue that the value's better leaving the points in Wyndham- if you look at some of their overseas properties, I wouldn't necessarily disagree (their resorts in Bali are good point value, for instance). But anything where you're netting mileage at less than 1 cpm is pretty good these days if you ask me, considering that mileage runs are regularly clocking in at 3+ CPM. Another way of looking at this is this deal gets you within spitting distance of an AA J Oneworld Zone 4 award of up to 9,000 miles (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2012/02/03/the-amazing-value-of-americans-oneworld-distance-based-awards/comment-page-2/#comment-617993), with plenty of stopovers.

I am curious if the shift from noon to 1 p.m. EST for the bulk of the sales is going to make things tougher or easier to get in on the action than would otherwise be the case. Of course with all the blogosphere attention on these deals, this is going to be a more difficult period to get in on the action even as the deals seem to be no better than they were last year -- and that is putting it generously.
I am also curious if the shift to pre-sales for those who use Facebook will make things tougher or easier to get in on the action than would otherwise be the case for the bulk of the sales.

If the idea of liking Facebook for this is to track loyalty, why can't they offer presale to those that purchased last year w/out the Facebook rqrments?

I agree. I don't get why they are all egging on their readers for this deal. Don't they understand that the more people who are online trying to get one makes it harder for all of us (including themselves as it seems some of them also buy hotel points)? It's one thing to post that there is "Discover America" deals and link to the website but then they have to blow it all out of proportion and get people excited about it when many of their readers would have been happy for the Vegas hotels and Sea World passes and spell it out in minute detail how to clog up the website when the deals go live.
What's really in it for them? I can understand why they are touting the credit card affiliate links as they get paid for it, I understand how bidding sites profit from links to Priceline but there is no way they can profit from Discover America. Is a few cents from Google ads really worth messing up the good deals for those of us who have been "under the radar" for years?

Do the US Travel people behind this realize that they're not spurring any new tourism with these offers?
They are just making money off of FT - not that it's a bad thing, but certainly not what is intended. 20 UA coupons, 20 point offers, or whatever is on sale, is most certainly going to be snatched up by someone here.
EDIT: Someone is definitely going to buy the 40k PC points thinking they can get a night at the IC Times Square shown in the offer :)

They're just pretending like they know what they're talking about, but really they're just taking stuff posted on FT and using it for their own financial benefit.

I am trying to catch up with all of this and I had a question about the "presale" option. I went ahead and "liked" all the Wyndham packages from the Daily Getaway pages. So from what I read I will see a code on Facebook that will allow me to be part of the presale....is this code going to be on the Wyndham pages I liked? I checked my Facebook account and it shows that I have a "shared link" with everything I "liked" with Daily Getaways...but the actual Facebook pages for Wyndham, Days Inn etc are not showing up on my Facebook as something I have "liked"...
Just a little unsure of where these codes will show up. It would be great if all I have to do is log into my Facebook account and see them posted because I "liked" the pages. As you can tell I am not a big "Facebook" person!!!!
Anyone that can help-I will be greatly appreciative. First of all- it may be the early hour, but is there more than 1 Wyndham package being offered? I only see one. The other question, how do you get the option to like? I understand the concept, and I see the option to like those offers for the first week, but the subsequent weeks (when I choose the calendar to view them) just states which ones will have a presale offer- but none of these contain hyperlinks to go to another page or anything. Thanks in advance.

I see it as something sticky for the foreseeable future. Twitter and Facebook deals and staffing for it are increasingly part of the corporate picture so it's going to have more staying power than a lot of fads.
About the concern about the deals being posted on more sites and getting a lot of blog attention, it is an understandable concern. Who likes to go shopping for an advertised sale only to have no possibility for even getting a rain-check for the item at the advertised price because it sold out despite being there at the opening? Saints aren't many if any.

I am all in favour of Facebook and Twitter promos because it is free to join both these sites and we can all make the choice to join or not join. It's not like limiting participation to some mysterious targetted only group and no one else has a chance to do it.
When promos that have a limited number of prizes go viral and you have more people competing for fewer items there is going to be a lot of resentment directed towards anything that decreases your chance to get the desired prize-in this case the bloggers who attract more competition. The odds won't be equal for everyone, some people will have faster internet connections, some people won't be able to get online at the precise time as they will be at work, on a plane or someplace where internet isn't available. Yet many will make a huge effort to be there at 12 noon ET or 1pm ET for non-Facebookers whether it is taking time off, asking your boss to switch your lunch hour or getting up at ridiculous hours if you are overseas (yes there are Americans who live overseas). Whoever runs this promo isn't really thinking it through very well. Yes, the people who get through will be very happy but for each one who does there will be 5-10 people who don't and will be upset with the brand that they rearranged their schedules to comply with the timing, maybe spent half an hour frantically refreshing their screen only for nothing. I don't get why the quantities have to be so limited in the first place. Why not allow EVERYONE who logs in at the specified time and for 30 minutes afterwards to buy ONE package of their choice? They should also limit it to one package per supplier (Wyndham, Hilton, PC, whatever) and not let people buy one of each package. I have a good idea how they are doing it but don't want to post it to give others ideas. It's not fair for some people to get 3 or 4 packages and others to get none at all. They would have a lot more happy customers, get positive free publicity and encourage more people to stick with the brand in the future.
onthego15
Apr 8, 12, 6:12 am
In my experience most of the packages offered do NOT get sold out instantly. A few actually linger for days. Certainly many are available for hours.
And the Wyndham deal (and some of the others) were heavily publicized last year as well.
Personally I am surprised that Wyndham doesn't raise the prices on their packages, since they know they will sell out within minutes. But who knows just what their motivation (other than publicity) for doing these deals.

Quoted for truth. I find it particularly sad to read people who use words like "fair." What does that word mean? I've always found that anytime I hear that word in negotiations to pay particular attention to my wallet, as people who use the word are never interested in my interests.

the increased attention brought to this program watered down the offers and at the same time made them harder to get. The deals available the first go round got me hooked. I had to fight for the second year points I bought, with the added attention came massive response and they had a bug in getting member numbers recognized without a workaround (found here last year BTW)
This year with additional bloggers and facebook advertising it, they will get to data mine the facebook profiles in addition to making you fight for a less than great offer.
I put up a facebook page just to get promotional stuff from companies, keep it anonymous and use it just to get access and offers.
The offers (like last year) are lackluster and some are downright lame.
You can get choice IHG points with the trick for less, and if you have the CC you now have easy plat forever, so buying points for plat is dumb.
The vegas deals are sad also...anybody who gambles in vegas can get comp rooms, show tickets are often comped or half off, there are auction sites and coupon books that offer 50% off a lot of things the "package" includes.
The palazzo suite is barely bigger than the ones across the hall that have a single entranceway door and a smaller foyer, the same amenities, and commonly run on sale for $129 a night. The only way to pay the price they want and get value is to use it on a FRI_SAT at a peak time, which will no doubt be capacity controlled (unavailable)
Marriott $1000 for $890.....20% discount for spending a grand on your amex...blah....I will have a hard time using the free certs earned in the last megabonus promotion before they expire in 6 months
Hilton points are overvalued and you can sign up for 50-70k CC bonuses with amex, BOA, BOH, and others...so why spend $1000+ for a chance at severly overpriced or limited availability top award rooms.
omni repeated it's lame promo like last year....most of their hotels have package rates that are lower if you shop their site.
wimpy car rental certs that dont allow true discount codes.
I'm waiting to see if they actually have any deals worth trying for this go round. I still have tons of points from the first year that I need to use before they expire for choice. (i got 300k to spend on Barcello' AI rooms)
wyndhams points expire in 4 years, but reading the T&C reminded me that they can die after 18 months if you have no activity....I may have to buy a gift card or get an award night.
I guess if you have a need or specific award that makes sense you can find a use for some of these, but if you share that plan, you will have 10 bloggers parroting it as a good use for the points, causing competition not only for the points, but for the increasingly limited uses for them as well.

I needed to buy because I had less than 5,000 points :D.
Experiences: A link showed up for the code. I had Chrome, IE, and Firefox all ready to make sure one went through. Entered in code in Chrome first, clicked buy one. IE second (about 3 seconds later) had the same experience. Firefox was last to have code entered and all packages were in carts by then. It took about 1 minute of loading before you arrived at the 5 minute enter your info screen. Also, note that you needed to include your priority club number.
So, it took less than 30 seconds for all pre-orders of the 10,000 point package to be reserved.

If your priority club purchases took place, an email is sent that includes details of an IHG employee's email address in case there is a problem. This is a much better approach than last time as now people who get an email confirming purchase will know whom to contact if the points don't post within 10 days.

And picking up five 10k point packages is still possible, so they are far from sold out.
I'm just going to save some people in CGK some money. :D

To get two 25K packs and one 10K pack for $361 with an AMEX card is not bad for Platinum status plus 12 pointbreaks nights or 2.5 occasional reward HI/HIX nights in some expensive metro areas.

Being able to click buy now and going through the credit card input doesn't mean the package can be purchased. The "try again later" message doesn't appear until after the confirm payment click is made.

They were NOT all sold out when you got the error message because I tried to purchase again and it took me to the buy page. When the offer was sold out there was a message on the offer page that said sold out.

In the situation to which I was referring, it ended up meaning it could be purchased -- the purchases were completed with email confirmations delivered. That said, I am familiar that there were various problem screens that came up when trying to confirm purchase. When that occurred, the packages were still available for purchase by whomever got in on the action next, if not the same individual who just got rejected.

OK, the math on the Wyndham offer using it as a mileage transfer, assuming that you use AMEX for the 10% discount, and, unlike 2011, there is no transfer bonus from any airline (US had a 50% transfer bonus last year)...
The T & C for Wyndham (and Ramada) state that the points must be used at participating properties in the US and Canada. Does anyone know if they track this? I'm looking at a Ramada in South America, but don't really stay at Ramada in the US. Did anyone use their purchased points for overseas properties last year? Thanks.

I purchased lots of Wyndham points in the last two years during this promotion, and they did nothing about my use of the points for purposes ranging from international hotel nights to partner transfers.
They haven't even gotten around to show the expiration date of points on their website, so I don't think they are going to get around to flagging down accounts based merely on how you acquired points.
They don't discriminate based on how points in an account were legitimately acquired.

While that is true THIS YEAR, it is not the intention of the Discover America program for people to be using the points for other than this purpose. It's not just next year we need to worry about, other hotel chains such as Hyatt and SPG have not yet announced their deals. It would not be too late for them to change their offering from points to vouchers that are limited to USA redemptions. We know that hotels are already capable of limiting their credit card annual certificates to vouchers for specific categories instead of just giving us points to spend as we choose.
I strongly recommend that people on forums and blogs STOP raving about the additional uses of hotel points other than USA hotel redemptions, otherwise we run a serious risk of seeing yet another cheap source of points shut down for good. Already Marriott has chosen this option, don't think other hotels won't do the same. Or the Discover America program could start insisting on some kind of USA only voucher. They aren't spending their advertising budgets on this so we can get cheaper tickets and hotels in Europe!

The participating companies' intentions are not the same thing as USTravel.org's intentions, but I'm not sure intentions really matter as much as outcomes.

Are most of the participating companies going to create special settlement instruments merely for the Discover America promotion? Doubtful, or they would have done it before. May some do it? I wouldn't doubt it, but then that will probably be off a template the participating companies already use for other purposes independent of Discover America sales.
I get great use out of the Wyndham points even for domestic hotel purposes, so I'm not sure why I would mind points from the promotion being restricted for use domestically -- it would probably suit me perfectly, as it might even ease up the demand for the points.

I completely understand the concern about too much attention being drawn to the possibilities from the Discover America sales resulting in increased difficulty to get in on the action for the sales -- particularly given limited quantities. But I'm not about to worry about participating companies' "intentions" about participation in these sales other than that related to the limited quantities sold; that's because the limited quantities sold are far more of a concern than guessing about "intentions" of participating companies when it comes to creating new settlement instruments merely for participation in Discover America sales and meeting USTravel.org's "intentions" with the Discover America sales.
I doubt that USTravel.org wants to condition participation in Discover America sales primarily on creating new settlement instruments only for the purpose of participating in this USTravel.org promotion. Ordinarily, keeping things simple for one's partners makes for better partnerships -- I suspect that USTravel.org doesn't want to bite the hands that feed it.
I bought Wyndham points in the last two years for the purpose of redeeming them at US hotels; but as points in an account are essentially fungible, good luck to customers trying to figure out what points were used for what purpose.

What I was trying to say (maybe not so well as it was after midnight my time) was that if USTravel.org or the Discover America program are subsidizing the purchase of hotel points and then see their advertising dollars going to fund people's trips to Europe or whatever they are going to start eliminating points packages and start asking the hotel companies to sell discounted gift vouchers that can be redeemed only in the USA. This is very easy to do. The Avis car voucher is restricted like this, I would have bought some if I could use them overseas where car hire is expensive but I prefer to pay travel expenses in the USA and earn points. Marriott isn't selling points this year (or last year), they are selling gift vouchers that give 20% off hotel stays. Not sure if they are restricted to USA only, I don't use Marriott so didn't look into it.
This promo is happening because the sponsors want people to travel in the USA. The executives who organizing it are probably smart enough to read the blogs and forums and realize that in actual fact, the majority of hotel points purchased through THEIR promo will be transferred to airlines and used for tickets to Europe. The actual target of these promos is probably Mr and Mrs Average who want to take the kids to Disneyworld or have a romantic getaway in Hawaii, SFO or whatever but these people don't have a chance in hell of getting these promos because bloggers have whipped their readers into a frenzy over the possibility of cheap airline miles and are spelling out in great detail how to be the first ones online to grab the deals.
No rules are currently being broken by transferring the points to airlines but if you are going to do this, please at least be discreet about it and don't blab it all over the internet. We don't want to kill the goose who is laying the golden eggs!

I understand your concerns, but THAT genie is out of THAT bottle. Even if everyone on FT shut up about this promo and its unintended uses immediately, there are plenty of bloggers who will discuss the promo because they're already aware of it (I even put a flag on my calendar for a month ago so I'd remember to set aside a bit of money to spend on the promotion).
I suspect that the PC points remained available as long as they did yesterday because the general consensus around the blogosphere seemed to be, "ho hum, you can buy the points at 6/10 of a penny anyway, nothing to see here, move along." In regards to the Wyndham promotion, that consensus seems to be, "wow, finally a great promotion, you'll want to get all over it."
As a result, I suspect the Wyndham points will be gone within seconds. There certainly won't be any around an hour later as there were with the PC points.
And, of course, the irony is, your point taken to its logical conclusion suggests that there shouldn't be an FT in the first place because if doom awaits any good deal that is too widely publicized, well. . .

There is a very good reason the "Trick It" thread is written discreetly using codes!
Over the years, I have seen lots of good miles deals go down the tubes and it's rarely because of FTers.
Live Search Club/Club Bing used to get us an easy 4000 miles every couple of weeks in several programs. We flew under the radar for ages as botters/cheaters/exploiters concentrated on redeeming for X-boxes and other gadgets. Club Bing combatted this by restricting redemptions to delivery addresses. Then one day, one of them discovered that airline miles could be redeemed for gift cards and they started botting and redeeming for miles. The result was that Club Bing restricted everyone to ONE redemption in a lifetime per air miles account number. It wasn't FT that killed this deal as we were discreet about it, we posted about it (Anyone remember AA Tuesdays?) but didn't over-exploit the program.
Last year, one Grand Slam hit was killed (investment accounts) due to over-publicity on blogs.
A Priority Club contest was shut down because people used bots to win over people who were competing fairly.
FT and MP can be HUGE resources but we can also be our own worst enemies.
The Wyndham points would sell out regardless so the suppliers have nothing to worry about. If the airline mile thing isn't widely publicised, people will still buy the points packages and spend them on hotels. A few people who did GS last year may put 2 + 2 together and see the transfer option and discreetly purchase the packages for this purpose. People who read the ads in USA newspapers but not be internet savvy will think "How nice, I'll wait until I get home and see if I can get enough points for our Christmas trip to Grandma's house". They won't get squat.
Unless people are "experts" and figure out a way to buy EACH one of the Wyndham packages, no one will have enough time to buy sufficient quantities to get enough Wyndham points to transfer to enough airline miles for even a domestic 25K award so they will basically end up with orphaned points/miles they can't do anything with unless they buy more miles to make up the difference. It's not FT that will screw up this deal, it's the bloggers who copied information learned here from last year and are building up unrealistic expectations in their readers who think they are magically going to get enough miles for a ticket to Europe for $500 or whatever. They aren't! People will be lucky to get ONE Wyndham point package this year if any at all.

The bloggers make things easy for the "lazy" in this game in a way that FT does not.
Even without FT and the bloggers further commenting about these sales, there is already so much awareness of the sales and so much competition for them that mentioning how the process works out for those who get in on the sale doesn't make much of a difference since the best of the deals are already very eagerly pursued and few of the relative "newbies" to these deals are not going to have an easy time (if any opportunity) in getting in on the action of the best deals unless they really put some very thoughtful effort into it.
The PC points were not showing as "sold out" because some of us here were nursing them to keep them reserved for our use until the last decisions could be made about whether to take them for ourselves or release them. Within less than 8 minutes of the moment we released the last collection of the packages we were holding, all the ICHG deals were showing as sold out.

GUWonder and tiki, all valid points, but in the end, the bloggers became a logical offshoot of FT. When I was in private practice, I used to say that the only thing worse than having too many clients, was not having enough. Internet forums, from the point of view of those running them (and not the users, who like my clients, would have had no problems having less competition), operate the same way. Bloggers became a logical offshoot as some folks got enticed enough to try to see if they could turn their avocation into a vocation.
There are some factors outside of information dissemination that will eventually work to slow down our options anyway. Maturing of frequent flyer and marketing programs, improvement in the economy (whether shortly or in the mid term), greater sophistication of computer software programs that monitor available airline and hotel inventory, and consolidation in the airline industry will all have an effect.
And, I still suspect that we'll see the Wyndham points disappear more quickly than the PC points for the reasons I mentioned earlier. I easily got 32K last year and could have gotten more (I still have 24K unused--my travels just didn't coincide with Wyndham locations and availability), but I suspect in a couple of weeks, I'll find when I hit the buy button on a couple of computers simultaneously, that I've come up empty.

wyndham rewards + choice privileges are the only two items i am aiming at this year.
WR will be gone very soon.
last year, it took a few hours to sell all choice (some packages were sold quickly, while the more expensive took longer).
since choice does not have favorable ratio to convert for airline points, i dont think it will be that quick. also, paying 50 dollars for a super 8 is not that great a value.
i maxed out choice last year for 216000 points, down to 80000 points already... will max out again this year, if possible.!

some deals which could never be sold out in the past two years now could be gone fast
Yup, the "good old days" (all of 2 years ago) were certainly better for this promo -- I remember when I had to CONVINCE people to buy some of these deals. Now those deals will be gone in seconds.
bought 7 Avis's using the Amex card.......but a bit regret....
What, you didn't read my earlier post? :) Yes, you will regret your purchase. If you search the Avis forum, you'll see how I was able to ultimately trade in my nearly worthless Discover America Avis coupons for "real" coupons that I could actually use.

Alright, I bought 4 coupons to be used in virgin islands, why again are they worthless? This my first time buying these

The details are all in the Avis thread, but 2 main reasons: 1) you have to pay the taxes on the full "value" of the day; and 2) very extensive blackouts.
My complaints last year got some of the blackouts eliminated (things like "spring golf season"), but they never did solve the tax problem. They would sometimes value the free day at $150 -- and you can imagine what the taxes are like on a $150/day car rental.
There could be a few places where the certs might have some value -- like weekday rentals in low tax cities. But good luck finding those. I suspect you'll be calling Avis to exchange them for "cash" certificates like I did.

not to mention that they are not valid in NYC or its suburbs.

If anybody is interested...
I got a reply from DA on of my earlier question as to whether or not you can use an AMEX gift card to buy a package and still get the discount. The CSR confirmed that you can. Since I am AMEX deficient I will be using my aa card to buy AMEX cards for miles at the grocery store and use it to get the discount.

You have to register the card. When you do it asks you for all your personal info. If you register it you can also use on paypal, if that interest anyone

Can someone help me on how this facebook "pre-sale" stuff works? I'm not a big facebook user (I do maintain a "bogus" account to sign up for the occasional coupon and such).
I'm testing my knowledge of the system with today's Alamo promo. So I click on the "like" button on the Daily Getaways site. It didn't seem to take me anywhere on Explorer, but then when I go to Alamo's facebook page, I see that I've liked them and there's the usual discussion board. Will the preview code be posted there before noon? Anything else I need to do? Thanks.
EDIT: OK, Alamo's facebook page now has the pre-sale code posted: F24C1. Apparently, at noon EDT, a pre-sale box to purchase will pop up on the Discover America site.

Anyone know how multiple transaction on the same deal works?
For example, if I want to buy a $1000 and a $500 gift card for Marriott tomorrow, do I just open up a separate buy window for each gift card and enter my credit card information twice? There doesn't seem to be a way to combine orders.

That's my experience as well. Alamo is very price-competitive in places where I rent frequently (LAS, LAX, SEA), and Alamo also gives 500 US miles on a single-day rental (which is pretty good). So in effect knocking $25 off the price makes it a really good deal.

Hmmm -- there didn't seem to be any way to "sign up" for email notification on today's Alamo pre-sale. In fact, you didn't really even have to "like" Alamo -- just go to their page on facebook and find the code at 11:30 EDT.
Given previous Discover America snafus, why do I know that the distribution of the pre-sale code is going to get screwed up on one of the better deals! :)
Speaking of snafus, did anyone notice that there didn't seem to be a published expiration date for the Alamo certs being sold today? I couldn't find one.

Today I bought the marriott $100 gift card.
It took me to a screen to enter my info.
Took me to another screen where I confirm my purchase.
Then once I confirmed it I got a screen that said
Looks like something went wrong be we are working on it.
So I have two questions. Do I get my gift cards or not.
Secondly has anyone have this happen to them before. (I was using Chrome)
Edit: I checked my CC and there is a $1.00 preauthorize charge on my card but no charge for the gift cards.

Major clusterf*ck today
Reloading the page from about 9:55 on. The instant the deal went live, I tried to add a $1000 Marriott card into my cart but they were already gone. We're talking 2-3 seconds here. This does not bode well for the other deals (e.g. Wyndham)
I was able to buy 5 $50 gift cards successfully. I had all the other cards in my cart, entered my credit card info, and got an error message when I went to complete my purchase. Ridiculous.

Ah, Discover America snafus. It's not like that's ever happened before. :)
Seriously, if you didn't receive an email confirmation, I think you have a problem. Maybe they'll make it right for you, but the odds are probably against that.

Yes, you may be able to use them for more than a five night stay. You are buying Hilton points to use however you would use other points you acquired from normal Hilton stay/partner activity. These are "ordinary" Hilton points rather than some kind of new, restricted instrument.

Is it possible to open multiple tabs of the different deal types on the same browser or do I have to do 1 window per browser?
E.g
If I want to buy Super 8 and Daily Inn deals at the same do I have to do it on Safari + Firefox or can I do it all on Firefox with different tabs at the same time?

(xposted from the Wyndham forum, had missed this thread before)
Just noticed on the T&Cs "Max. Quantity per Purchase: 1. No more than 1 set of points purchased through this offer are allowed per Wyndham Rewards® number."
Does this mean that, unlike last year, you can only purchase one lot of points? Or that, since they artificially break it up among different kinds of Wyndham properties, each "offer" is one set of points?
Not sure how to read it!
