Hi all.
Seems like RC and St. Reg are favored on here, but restaurant/lobby aside, focusing mostly on room quality/modernity/comfort/location/view/service, any preference between the two?
Exactly the same price for me.

The RC rooms post renovation IMO are nicer. But I personally prefer contemporary styling.
Room quality - both use good materials, diff of style
Modernity - definitely RC
Comfort - about the same
Location - St Regis is short walk from Orchard Road, the centre of all shopping in Singapore. RC is however located opposite the huge Marina Bay Sand Shoppes. Slight edge to St Regis
View - definitely the RC, no contest
Service - I have always received great service at the RC. Stayed couple of times at ST Regis and service is rather inconsistent.
If your budget allows, go for a Premier Suite at the RC.

The RC Singapore is one of the best view hotels in the world. We stopped going when the decor got tired, but now that the remodel is done....
By the way, I think the St. Regis rooms are gorgeous! Bathrooms especially.
Sorry, I don't think I helped you come to a decision. LOL. We like both hotels for different reasons. Depends what you are looking for. Benlee does a nice job laying out the differences.

Food at R-C is much better than St Regis. More professional service, too.

Thank you for the very detailed (but not at all helpful in making a decision!  :p) information!
Let me rephrase. Based on my criteria, pick ONE. :)

Rc corner club suite
But any club room. All day champagne etc. Great selection of food and breakfast. You can eat entire day in there. My favourite cub lounge.
St Regis with the Rolls Royce Phantom airport pickup and Jetquay service !
I thought the location on Orchard Road was great. Breakfast was good. We really enjoyed the Chinese food at the hotel restaurant Yan Ting - Considering we had just come from Hong Kong, that would be quite a compliment.

Based on my criteria, pick ONE. :)
But you've given us too many criteria....
room quality/modernity/comfort/location/view/service
Maybe you could put these in order of importance. That would help.

My personal choice would be the Ritz-Carlton, based mostly on food quality, service and views.
Given your criteria it also sounds to me like R-C would be the better choice.

R-C if you're doing club level. I'm not so fond of its location and it is somewhat of a walk to the new casino area.
Otherwise St Regis, which treats SPG Plats well, but I don't know what the situation is for Golds. They offer a wine tasting every afternoon, with about fifteen wines and some cheese. Plats also get a drink and appetizer every evening.

Thanks again, everyone.
Trying out the RC this time - we will see what happens.

I stayed at the RC Singapore a few weeks ago. First time back to this hotel since 2000. I was pleased at how well the hotel was performing.

The question could be answered very simply:
It depends on what you want to do in Singapore!
If you just have a 1-night-layover after a flight, returning to the airport next morning, then choose the RC with it's location nearer to the airport and its slightly better food and service.
If you want to do some inner-city-shopping on Orchard Road, then choose the SR - it's also a fine hotel (much better than the darkish Four Seasons) - since it's where the action is.
