Over the weekend I managed to pick up a parking ticket in Segovia.

80 euros!

I now know that blue lines mean you can park but you must pay!

The only thing is that I can see abosultely no way of paying it! I read somewhere else that you have to pay it at a town hall but can it be any town hall?

Or do I just leave it and let avis charge me for it plus a handling fee?

Are you still in Spain? I suggest you talk to someone where you're staying and explain what happened. A local hotel clerk, etc, in another town in Spain may be of much more help than trying to find stuff online.

I can't even find reliable stuff online about the city 5 blocks away from which I live (and have lived for over two decades). This kind of stuff is not as easy to find about any place online as you might think. But every other local (or even semi-local) tends to know if you can ask in person...

(While this may be less common to happen to someone from North America, I'm sure it has happened to people in Spain who were doing shorter trips. Hence the reason that no matter where in Spain you may still be, it might be easiest to find a local who'll know what to do.)

So I spoke to my client and explained the situation.

response "oh don't worry!" Unless you were in Madrid nothing willl happen!

I am leaving today and raised the issue with the car drop off agent who turned around and said it is unlikely anything will happen and to forget about it!

Driving and rules of the road in spain are truely entertaining!
