Not sure of the degree of FT interest in this, but one of Virgin Australia's two new Airbus A330s (I believe it's the first of the factory-fresh pair which will be used for Melbourne-Perth services) is doing its delivery flight from Toulouse on April 24th. This is the one with new seats & IFE and no middle seat.

Thanks for the heads up.
Looks good, can't wait to see/experience the new J seating, hopefully not at the expense of legroom/recline.

Looking forward to seeing these in service but apparently they are doing the MEL-PER run only and the ex-Emirates aircraft aren't getting refitted.
Shame as I'm booked on SYD-PER in the back end of this year and was hoping to try out the new J product.

According to this (http://www.ausbt.com.au/virgin-australia-readies-new-airbus-a330s-with-lie-flat-seats) article the factory fresh aircraft will be shared amongst the various A330 routes so that is good news being based in SYD.

Is there anyway of telling if you'll be getting one of the new A330's? I know at the moment when you book you can see whether your flying on a 737-800 or A330.

Seat Map probably.
Easiest way to tell cause the Business Section would be 2-2-2 instead of 2-3-2

You never know, and I believe the emirates aircraft will be refitted.

Totally incorrect!
http://www.ausbt.com.au/virgin-australia-s-new-airbus-a330-lie-flat-business-class-seats
While all of Virgin's new A330s will sport the new business class seats, a spokesperson for the airline confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that its first two A330s -- which were bought 'pre-loved' from Emirates and currently fly Sydney-Perth -- would not be upgraded to install the new business class seating or remove the middle seat from that aircraft's 2-3-2 layout.

I have read reports from a staffer that they are due to get a refit in Aug, and I consider that insider to be a far more credible source than any "press" comment.

Get back to me when it's actually completed/announced.
You have also claimed that A330's will be flying from BNE-PER-BNE
More 777's will be ordered and used to fly to Asia
Amongst other un-true claims
Markis is correct in his/her claims as I speak on a regular basis to people involved with the changes also.

Well it's happening a bit earlier than the August I predicted, XFA is off to Manilla next week for a cabin refit, XFB follows three weeks later. Now I wonder what they will do when they get back, could be a bit of apron painting due to be done in Brisbane ;), oh and it's Farnborough this week when new orders get announced......
As for my earlier comment about "press", I do include inaccurate blogs in that comment as a sweeping generalisation!

Seems to be only that date as far as I can see. How often will it fly that route?

Refit - No, maybe some new carpet or something small, but no-where near a full refit
No new orders in Farnborough (well 737's) but the point of your post was A330s/777/787s

Time will tell, maybe in the raft of announcements that are coming this week, who knows . I think you might be surprised at the refit depth...., as well as the frequency of the A330 BNE ops in NHW schedules.

Where was the "raft of announcements" ?
Where are the fully refitted A330's ?
Where are the A330 BNE ops ? I can't see any having a quick look!
I was wishing you may have been right, since you claimed to know all this inside information, but pretty much none of it was correct
