Due to a stint of full-time study in 2010/11 and having then moved to Europe in 2011 for a while I am about to lose my Velocity Gold card. I will likely regain gold within 12 months due to a couple of return trips with Etihad to Australia (1st is next month). Is there anything I can do to keep my Velocity Gold or status match with an airline that will allow me maintain Gold? I can't go back to being 'normal'!

One option is to fly from a European airport where they offer a cheap Business class promotion.

Earn a lot of Status credits will work. @:-)

They are double now for most members, to make it twice as easy.

I think I'm going to switch to Etihad and take the short term hit. One return flight from DUB to BNE will almost qualify me for Etihad Silver. This qualifies me for lounge access. I'll be Etihad Gold in no time.

EDIT: Having more closely examined the Etihad offer and made some realisations regarding the Velocity program, I'm going to stick with Velocity. I think I can definitely make 400 points within the next 12 months, but I'll need to make 500 to regain Gold.

Is there any Softlanding even without having any flight posted?
My status is going to expiere soon and I couldn't credit any miles so far... so wondering if I'm going to loos the complete status or have a soflanding?

Soft landing is to Silver for one year.

I might be able to make some extra trips in April if I get double status credits to allow me regain gold by christmas.
