I just found this 4 day trip in Nov for SFO-HKG nonstop on United. Is this considered to be a good MR deal?

No. As a comparison, I'm flying from IAD through SFO to HKG in April for $1088 a/i on UA. Not a great fare, but its less than the $1144 you cited and a little over 4k more miles....
