question/slight rant

Without boring you all with the gory details, I was misinformed about the change fee on a reward ticket. So when I went to change it yesterday and heard the change fee was $100 as opposed to the $50 that I'd been told...I contacted B6..etc. (As an aside, the agent was rude, coughed almost the entire time and said MAYBE 10 words.)

I called today to see if I had any other options. I was emailed a $50 credit for a future flight, but that can't be used towards the fee.

So I decided to cancel Mind you the miles would have expired so I booked the ticket and bought an EML seat. Apparently THAT is refundable, but if I want to cancel the ticket I will, of course lose the miles (at this point I do not care) AND owe them $100?

What will happen when I just don't show up? Will the EML fee eventually go back on my card?

I know they're in business....etc....but if WN can let me change til my heart's content for free (unless there is a fare increase....) is there some sort of alternative that I am missing?

Incidentally when i called today, I wound up with the SAME REP that was rude and coughing in my ear yesterday. He's not coughing but he is still rude. Refused to let me talk to a supervisor..he said, 'you can speak to someone else on my same level, but the answer is still the same..."

thanks..

That's more than 10 words just right there.

$100 To Cancel TB ticket? Really? What do other airlines charge? I think for several the fee is around $150. And they don't give you a $50 voucher if you call and tell them you thought it was a different amount..

thanks....i generally fly WN so they don't charge to change a ticket...

I just think that it's sort of silly to charge to cancel a free ticket, that they have ample time to resell....

never mind....sorry i asked.

Hi,

Its glad that they are still charging $100, as most of the other airlines would have charged you additional $150 and difference in the price....This is a policy on almost all airlines past 2008. It's only f9 which have a change fee of $50 and airtran ( now a part of southwest ) still charges $75 ( though they do deduct the change fee from the credit - revenue ticket )......

Regarding the change policy, it's only to generate more revenue rather than a motive to keep seats. If they have a space, they could sell tickets for $1, then why they prefer to keep the plane empty on few occasions?

There is many considerations. If they could waive off the change fee for you, they could do it for many customer's who are traveling many months from now.......

Though it might seems silly to you, but if you ask they revenue management, they are designed for this purpose.

It's not a rant, but a fact that we as customers have to agree. A policy is a policy ..doesn't matter whether there are 1 seat or 10 seats....If you cancel your revenue ticket 10 minutes before departure, still they allow a credit...now, in this they don't have any time to sell that seat ( considering the flight is not overbooked ) - did they ever deny the credit?....

Thanks and Regards
