No idea how many got this - most I imagine?

We are long ago re-qual for Plat to Sept 2013 so they had our money already.

Anyway we just booked 2 flights we had no real need to do so for us - it worked!

Dear Mr ozstamps,

As a Platinum member, we know you appreciate the small things that make flying effortless and special.

Perhaps it's relaxing before your flight in one of over 150 lounges worldwide, or avoiding the hustle and bustle of Sydney Airport with direct kerbside check-in and lounge access.*

For a limited time only, you can earn double Status Credits^ when you fly with Virgin Australia so that you can continue to enjoy the benefits of Platinum. Simply book and fly between 27 March and 30 June 2012.

Book your next Virgin Australia flight today.

Yours sincerely,

Phil Gunter
General Manager, Velocity Frequent Flyer

Got the email too.

I have a flight booked in May but I'm not sure if the offer applies to pre-existing bookings for the qualifying period.

The corporate agent my partner uses didn't follow instructions correctly and made the booking on the 26th.

Anyone with any history of positive outcomes asking VA to make exceptions? He is a Platinum member, FWIW and the booking in question was a flexible Premium Economy fare SYD-AUH-LHR.

Thanks,

Mark

I had the same issue (see previous posting above) with a return SYD-LAX-LAS flight in business class.

When I called up Virgin they wouldn't budge (I'm a Gold member). I cancelled and rebooked the ticket without penalty.

I ended up getting a total of 640 status credits for the return SYD-LAX sectors and 80 status credits for the return LAX-LAS sectors. On the Delta flights for the LAX-LAS and return sectors there are no double status credits, the offer only applies when flying on Virgin Australia "metal".

As it stands, I have now re-qualified for Gold and I'm on my way to Platinum.
