Mileage Run Discussion - Need 17k eqm to reach *G, have 4 days and $800. Possible?

Hi FT,

As the thread title says, I am 17k short of *G, but my flying for the year is done, so Ive decided to try and run for it. I know the year is young, but I just found out I'm completely free from 3/30, and don't have to be back in NYC until 8am on 4/4. My budget is $800 or so, bc it would cost me $900 to just buy gold on US. I am also aware that the economics of my proposal stink, so please forego the "keep your money" replies. I just want to know if anyone can help me come up with routings that get me 18k eqm on *A ex-NYC. And yes, I know FT isn't a TA, but I just want to know what is possible.

I've tried the usual transcons, as well as NYC-TUS. I've tried the 300 mile radius searches on ITA, but I admit that I'm a noob at advanced searches. Please help, I appreciate any ideas you can come up with. Many thanks.

You might want to read the "trick it" thread and learn the FD tricks to get cost down.

You are looking on short notice, so most likely will find no two week advance fares.

If you are willing to wait a bit, CO used to have $800ish fares to HKG, which would do the trick. Haven't checked UA, but it's worth a look if you don't do last minute fare.

Unfortunately I have had the same experience with the trick it thread. I have spent a lot of time reading through the thread and the guides within but given the cryptic nature still have no idea how to book a 3x. I have learned what some of the abbreviations mean though :)

I understand that people might be apprehensive to share...... but it makes it very hard to learn! If someone would not mind sharing a step by step guide (via PM) on how to find and book a 3x it would be much appreciated. Maybe even share an old FD that no longer works.... just something to serve as a guide on how it can be done. I am not asking for someone to "do my homework for me" but for some kind sole to get us pointed in the right direction.

HKG and SGN will do it any should be under 1000$. However, I'd just buy the gold if you don't have the time to visit these places......

I'm seeing tons of *A flights from EWR/JFK/ZVF transcons (6K miles with one stopover) for $250 to $300.

Three of them is 18K for less than $900.
