It is a bit of a solemn occasion to see these planes move on - I have some great memories flying in them and still miss the feeling of the nose cabin.

My first flight in First Class on NZ was on ZK-NBU on 19 September 1992.

At the time I was told the aircraft had just arrived in New Zealand. Researching now I found that the aircraft arrived on 15 September 1992.

I'm hoping to fly the NZ 744 if they're still in service in June.

I noticed the 747 that has been stripped down of its livery etc. has disappeared from the maintenance area...has it gone for good?

There were two of them there more recently. I wonder if they are off to the nevada desert or where??

What is the final stages of life? Is there any money in there scrap for air nz?? Parts etc?? How much??

I was near the airport all day Friday and watched it take off some time during the day, wondered if that was the last time we'll be seeing it.
