I've got a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses (great sunglasses, by the way). But the case that comes with them is both huge and very heavy. Can anyone recommend a good, sturdy but light case?
I want a hard case, I don't trust a soft case to protect these expensive sunglasses, but I want something lighter than the beast that Maui Jim sends out. They sure don't skimp on the case.
Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

I've also got several pairs of Maui Jims. Other than the case the 12g titanium sunglasses comes in, the others cases are unusable. You'll just have to go to your local optical store and see what they have.
In YVR, there's a Daiso (Japanese dollar store) that imports a ton of different glasses cases - all for $2 each! Not sure if you've got something similar.

I like to use the soft Oakley vault cases. Sturdy and lightweight.

I also vote for the Oakley Vault. I have three of them, two for my Oakleys (one Oakley is a custom job that I definitely want to protect) and one for my latest large-frame aviators. The Vault has been stuffed into various bags and those bags have been tossed on the ground, stuffed into lockers, stuffed into overheads. Solid as a rock.

You may not consider this very hoity-toity but I've always gotten my glasses and sunglass cases at thrift stores and had very good luck.

I use a Fossil Isla Sunglass case

It's quite large, but I like it because I also keep a spare set of contacts and a couple of cards in there.

I have from time to time used a small nalgene widemouth water bottle (the 500ml one) as a case for my glasses/sunglasses. Works pretty well and is a "dual use" item!

I just saw that the other poster said a soft Vault. I have the carbon fiber Vault. So far, it's been bullet-proof.

I picked up one of these (http://sunbeltoptic.com/sunglasses/gorrila-case-2.html) at a local Cabela's. The outer neoprene case has a hard plastic insert which is lined with a fake felt to prevent scratches. Overall the case it quite tough. If I recall correctly, the tag said it was indestructible. My pair Maui Jim Ka'anapalis fits, but just. As an added benefit, the case (with sunglasses inside) floats!
