United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Incomplete flown itineraries - no miles then even for flown segments?

After scrutinizing the "changes you'll like" with the new MileagePlus, I'm noticing something new. If for whatever reason you don't show up for the final flight in an itinerary (like, for example, if you show up late and miss it, or you're delayed inbound, mis-connect, and decide to drive instead of wait overnight for a flight the next day...), it appears that they will go back and delete all the miles from all the segments flown from that itinerary. Has this actually happened to anyone?
I understand they want to discourage "throw-away ticketing," for people who intentionally add segments to not have to pay the hub premium, but what about "innocent" cases like above? I understand that they would want to reserve the right to do this if they know of intentional abuse, but I wonder if it's now simply an automated thing where it just goes in and does it.
Has this actually happened to anyone? Is this a PMCO thing? It never happened at PMUA.
Thanks for sharing your real-world experience!

How many times has this happened to you? Did they erase flights from all segments on ticket, even those flown on a different day?

No, sorry if I wasn't clear. It hasn't happened to me yet on United, but it appears at various places on the website now. I'll post a quote as soon as I find it again. Just got me worried, so I wanted to see if it's actually happened to anyone.
It did happen to me on AirTran, incidentally, though, with a misconnect in ATL. Even after writing with an explanation, nothing. Didn't even give the miles for the inbound to ATL flight that was delayed. (And yes, I'm embarrased to admit, I did fly AirTran. Once.) ;)

If you'd been on a DL flight, then you'd have gotten original miles credited plus 5,000 bonus miles.

!
If this is true then I would assume they will make allowances for genuine mis-connects. I think it will be to UA's detriment if they don't. There must be quite a few mis-connect situations when people give up their short last segments and save the airline having to provide hotel, meals or rebooking the next day.

I really doubt this is true. The can barely add the miles right, they don't have the time to do subtractions :D

This happened to me on PMUA. Flew IAD-KWI-BAH but the final segment canceled due to MX. Was rebooked on GF and got in a few hours late. Miles never posted because the full itinerary wasn't flown, but an email to 1P Voice a few weeks later got me original routing credit and compensation for having to sit in Y on the GF flight.
