There's a weekend flea market, but if you're heading on the eastbound island hopper (MWF) then it's not an option.
For one month before Liberation Day (July 21) there's the carnival which lasts late into the night--gambling possibly 24 hours.

thinking about making it a 24hr layover. Ideas on things to do with a day in Guam?

The usual beach stuff (watersport activities), the historical stuff (Hagatna the capital, various units of the War in the Pacific National Historic Park), and/or driving around the southern half of the island (4-8 hours depending on stops).

And more expensive activities: Skydive, Atlantis submarine.
Just don't dive under water as it's hazardous to fly right after.

It's a small island..........bars don't stay open all night. I would just book a hotel room. Some reasonable options there.
I can't imagine wandering around Guam all night and keeping busy!
ooops! Just realized this might be a 24 hour layover. Never mind!
You can take an island tour, go shopping and go to the beach in 24 hours!

There's really only three things happening in Guam.
Partying
Shopping
Beach
If you have time during the day, and like WWII history, go to the Yokoi Cave at Talofofo Falls.

The Inarahan Pools are wonderful. Jeff's Pirate's Cove is a great place to get a burger and berr.
